Zach (nikobaseball) PM'd me about this particular auction.

[ebay:1i7jmmwb] 220396919445[/ebay:1i7jmmwb]

I just checked the auction out and I'd definitely stay away. Although I'd like a 4th one its not in the budget right now. But the main issue is that I think its a fake. I feel I have a strong education for this particular set so here's my reasoning:

1. The card looks like the plain base card because it doesn't have the foil appearance on the front.

2. If you look at the back of the card, the bottom should read "The attached autograph is an official autograph signed by Jesus Montero. The authentic autograph was obtained and is guaranteed by Donruss Playoff LP." His card has the paragraph from the base card.

Good catch, that doesn't look like his auto either.

Did he take a sticker off a $1 auto take the ink off and fake the Montero auto?

What is he asking for the card, or is it the one in auction? I can't access the link here at work.

That's DEFINITELY not his auto. Here's what they should look like.

The auto almost looks like it says "Trevor Cahill", but I am probably wrong on that one.

It looks like it says "eat at joes" but that is subjective I guess.

While most fault falls on the seller, I would have to place some on the people bidding. I mean he even shows the back of the card where it should say it is a certified autograph, and the auto is nothing like Montero's

Card companies have been known to put wrong auto stickers on the wrong cards. Not saying the card is legit, just that there have been auto errors before.

I think he took a sticker, wiped it down and forged the sig.

yeah, hopefully someone created an account and put in a high bid[/quote:77o6ckxv]

I'm not smart enough to do that but I thought that might be a possibility.
