Working on an offline deal right now and I'm just looking for opinions if anyone wants to share their thoughts...

If a BGS 9.5 Chrome Xfractor sells for $50, what is a BGS 9.5 Gold Refractor of the same player worth? If it makes a difference, there is a very limited number of 9.5s for each.

And to make this thread even better, I'm handing out "thanks" (serious motivation, I know) to anyone who posts a reasonable opinion about this subject.

Re: Looking for Pricing Opinions

[ebay:eqq981wr]190307247134[/ebay:eqq981wr] - Longoria Gold - $2,185
[ebay:eqq981wr]200341744738[/ebay:eqq981wr] - Longoria X - $840

That is a 2.6x multiplier, however, given the effect that happens (lower end cards go up more % wise than higher-end cards) when a guy gets as hot and pricey as Longoria is it seems that 2.5x - 3.5x might feel about right.

In your case that'd be $125 - $175.

What kind of premium over the raw does that give the xfractor?

Not sure because I have the only two 9.5s ;)

Let me try to explain it better, lol. You have a price of $50 on the 9.5 xfractor. What does a raw xfractor go for?

Ah I see, last couple have gone for 20ish. Unfortunately, no gold ref sales lately for comparison.

So a 9.5 premium on the xfractor brings 100% increase, I would say a raw gold would go around 65-75, so a 9.5 probably anywhere from 100-150. Thats probably being on the cautious side of pricing :)

I think, sometimes, it also depends on the sub grades. If it is a 9.5, but the subs are 9, 9, 9.5 and 9.5, then that might be worth less to some than a 9.5 that has subs of 9.5, 9.5, 9. 10.

But I think a general rule most have is the 2.5 to 3.5 times value from an X to a Gold. This can also change if the player is suddenly hot (like Longoria) and there are limited 9.5 copies (a pop of 5 or less).

Hope this helps.

X-Fractors are #'d to 250, and Gold to 50. It seems like a no brainer to me, to keep the gold instead of the X. If it is the same grade, and the gold has a smaller serial #, why would that even be an option.

My opinion

Best example I could find is:

08 Posey Gold BGS 9.5 - $649
08 Posey Xfra BGS 9.5 - $121

So about 5.4x

Not so sure this is a great example. I think it varies greatly depending on the player.

Maybe the year too:

07 Price Gold BGS 9.5 - $227
07 Price Xfra BGS 9.5 - $110

Only 2.1x

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help everyone, for the record, there are two 9.5 Xfractors and Gold Refs on the pop report and I currently own all of these. The subs on the gold are 9, 9.5, 9.5, 10.

I think I'm going to offer the price of $200 for the gold and just let him counter if he doesn't feel that it's fair.

The Gold refractor sell for high premium on ebay even when it is raw. Gold doesn't appear on ebay on regular basic plus the production is 200 less than X-Fractors. Tell the buyer if this player perform or get hot in a week (minor or major) this card will sky rocket to Thousands quickly so your offer is very reasonable.

I thought the lowest subs you can have for a 9.5 would be 9,9.5,9.5,9.5. If there were two 9s and two 9.5s it would be a bgs 9, I think.

Assuming the subs are the same, I'd say $150-200 (3x-4x multiplier)

It is tough to say, because it depends on the player and what else they have out. A guy like Moutsakas, with a base 07 Draft and 07 Elite Auto and 08 BC Auto may have a smaller multiplier than a guy who only has base cards.

In my experience, people will overspend to get a Gold 9.5. Even the the X's from that set are tougher to grade out 9.5, the perception is that the Golds are tougher to acquire as 9.5's.
