I finally finished scanning my Brett Butler collection, which pretty much interests only me and maybe a few other '80-'90s era player collectors. Actually, it was a lot of fun - I hadn't looked at some of these cards for quite a while - it was nice getting reacquainted with them.

For years though, I've been wanting to scan & catalogue my first love, which was the reason I got back into collecting 15 or so years ago. I've been a huge Dodger fan since I was a little kid, first collecting the '78 set as an 11 & 12 year old. Like most other guys, as I entered high school, cards were forgotten as girls & sports became more important. When I started my family, I got to thinking about cards again and set out on a quest to build Dodger team sets back to my birth year of 1966. As I ventured onto the internet in 1996, I discovered oldbaseball.com and was admitted as a member late that year. Again, my goal was to finish up my team sets from '66 to present, but then all these cards from the 50s started pouring in, and my goals had to change (drastically!). To date, I'm complete from 1953 to present in Topps, and am done with 1948-1955 Bowman. I've also obtained a few '33 Goudeys and T-205 & T-206 cards. I collect all my vintage in well-loved condition, so as I post, you guys that like 'em minty fresh may want to steer clear!

I thought I'd start off with my small tobacco card collection.

Thanks for the comments! Alex, you're absolutely right - I'd kind of lost sight of how cool they are too. I've been playing with modern for far too long!

Re: Scanning my collection: next up, 1951 Bowman Dodgers

Great colelction, here's a couple of my '51 Bowman Dodger ::facepalm:: cards. I'm trying to put together a PSA incased set of the players, Giants and Dodgers, who played in the famous "Shot Heard 'Round The World" game.

The Dodgers I have so far(sorry for the large scans):

And just one Giant, a former Dodger:

For some reason, 57 year old tape is the coolest! I'd forgotten how much I love the '52 Bowman set.

Seeing all these vintage cards from one team is awesome. I've dabbled in collecting White Sox vintage team sets, but they're nowhere near as complete. I still can't believe they have almost the same uniform design.

Ron - them're some pretty nice '51s you have there! Thanks for sharing them. Nice Leo the Lip, too - wrong uni, but nice card nonetheless.

Here's 1953 Black & White and Color. Everyone agrees that the '53BC Reese is one of the greatest cards ever to grace the hobby, but I also really like the Hodges card that shows a good portion of the signage of Ebbets Field.

Re: Scanning my Dodger collection: next up, 1952 Topps

Those are absolutely amazing! Of course I love them because they're Dodgers cards but the history there is great to see. I Love to see the various designs but it's also interesting to think about all the kids that busted packs 50 or so years ago and that these were the cards they pulled. It's neat to know that these have gone through probably a lot of hands and they're still doing what they were intended to do originally.

Congratulations on the sets and it's definitely something I'd love to do someday as well.

Jaw dropping stuff.....love the 54 Topps Joe Black and the 53 Bowman Color Campanella.

Why was Jackie not in most of the Sets?

Took the WORDS right out of my MOUTH

Although I have seen several, I have never owned 1. The only thing holding me back, is FEAR of Divorce. of the several I have seen, I especially like yours, because it looks like a Baseball card from 1953 should look!!!!! I love the "Wear"
I bet, if you hold it up to your nose, you can still smell the Gum......God I wish I had more VIntage!!.

Beautiful Stuff!!!
