anyone seen anything like this? #ed to 25, and has some kind or defect on that back, but if i return it to donruss, i wonder what they would replace it with. what could this L be from? came in the same case as the 2 emeralds

Could be part of the size tag on the jersey or pants.

I have seen several of these in this years product. they do appear to be a bit rare

Yeah, it's a tag from the inside of the pants or jersey. They are only a few inches wide, so there are very few swatches like that that can be produced from a single uniform, so it is quite rare. Nice!
