Its amazing how Kinsler and Pedroia get so much attention, yet the best 2nd baseman in the AL this year is Aaron Hill. Honestly, if Pedroia played for anybody other than the Red Soxs, he would have a hard time being top 5.

Cano has better numbers, Roberts has better numbers and Adam Kennedy of all people has numbers comparable to Pedroia. ::facepalm:: :D

I know its always been a popularity vote but really its just a joke.

Lets compare stats and see who is better where (Hill and Kinsler that is)

Hill AVG- .306
Kinsler AVG- .266
Hill Runs- 43
Kinsler Runs- 49
Hill Hits- 97
Kinsler Hits- 75
Hill EXBH- 36
Kinsler EXBH- 35
Hill HR- 16
Kinsler HR- 18
Hill RBI- 51
Kinsler RBI- 49
Hill BB- 18
Kinsler BB- 33
Hill K- 46
Kinsler K- 42
Hill SB- 2
Kinsler SB- 15
Hill OBP- .344
Kinsler OBP- .344

Hill SLG- .489
Kinsler SLG- .525
Hill OPS- .833
Kinsler OPS- .869

Finally tally looks like this:
Hill- 5 (including OBP)
Kinsler- 7 (including OBP)

I'd vote Kinsler, his combo of speed, power and defnese is more than anyone else in the AL. Hill is easily #2, and a close one, but I'd take Kinsler for now.

Pedroia being #2 is a JOKE.

Cano being 669,924 behind Pedroia shows that,
A - less Yankee fans voted then Redsox fans,
B - Yankee Fans don't always vote for their teams players,
C - a lot of fans of other teams voted for Pedrioa because they just admire his dancing. :barf:

I like Hill's average better and the fact the rest is basically a wash, leads me to Hill. If Kinsler was batting .300, Id agree.

Plus Hill hit another one tonight. So make it 17. ;)

I guess my biggest problem is with Pedroia.

Kinsler is a .300 in his career including this year, he was above .400 for a while, and went like 1-30 and dropped it to .250 and it's back on the rise.

Including this year? Not at this point though. He's .40 below Hill right now.

Playing in hitter friendly Rangers ballpark helps Kinsler alot.I would take Hill over him any day of the week. But both are solid 2nd basemen.

Pedroia gets a lot of pub because of Boston, no question, but a lot of his votes are signs of his winning the MVP last year. While all star voting ideally would be a this year only thing, we all know that it is just as much a career/popularity vote.
