My team is listed below. I took over this crappy team 1 year ago and have been working on building it. I am in last place, as I expected. I was offered Colby Rasmus for my #1 pick next year. Strasburg will end up being the #1. Given my depth at young stud pitching should I make the deal?

Re: Dynasty fantasy league trade advice

How many teams are in the league? Do you carry your whole roster over to next year? I'd say no to the trade. You are fairly deep in the OF as well with Laporta, Snider, Taylor, Jennings, and Upton. Rasmus doesn't have the potential that Strausburg does and you could probably get more then Rasmus for him if he comes up and pitches well next year.

Re: Dynasty fantasy league trade advice

being that you will lose inge outfield elig. and you have a lot of pitching depth...i would work on the deal... push the fact that stras is going to be unreal and u are handing him over... maybe get rasmus and his 1st pick for urs

Re: Dynasty fantasy league trade advice

He came back and offered:

His #1 pick...likely #5-8 (only an eight team league)
Alex Gordon
Colby Rasmus

FOR
MY #1 OVERALL PICK...I will likely get Strasberg
Chipper Jones (useless to me...I have plenty of young 3B and won't compete anytime soon)
Roy Oswalt (same as Chipper...except I have plenty of YOUNG SP)

Thoughts?

It's nice that you have all those prospects, but I see absolutely no point to throw in Roy Oswalt or Chipper Jones even if you're playing for the future. Those guys alone could net a player like Rasmus. I would likely sit on the #1 pick and draft Strasburg. I'm all for getting Rasmus, but I don't see the point in doing that deal. I have Rasmus, in both of my dynasty leagues so its not a matter of not believing in him. If there are no contracts, I'd keep Chipper and Oswalt or at least deal them separately for a greater return.

Oswalt is about to burst out right now too.

thanks for the advice...old player really don't have much value in this league since we can keep young prospects...not worth keeping old players that dont start on your team...especially if you are out of it...like i am

he just countered with this:

·Gordon, Alex 3B KC
·Rasmus, Colby CF STL
·****, Chien-Ming SP NYY (i know he is a throw in but he is young, still)
FOR
·Oswalt, Roy SP HOU
Offer: and my 1st for your 1st next year

I wouldn't trade away the pick for Strasburg unless I was BLOWN away.

And after Rasmus, no trade has included anyone worth the while.

Until Gordon comes back from injury and shows us he is a legitimate bat, I would stay away from him.

Tell the guy if he wants Strasburg, you want Rasmus and another top player. Think a #2 pitcher or a top 50 bat at the LEAST.

Because if you don't trade that pick until NEXT year, you will get a greater return on the trade.

Just my opinion.
