I know everyone gets SICK off hearing about him on these boards (Thanks darocker :) ), but Tim Lincecum seems underpriced to me.

He is very young, plays on a team that is in a playoff race and is going to get better and better (Bumgarner, Alderson, Posey, etc....), he won the Cy Young last year, and is arguably and IMO, the best pitcher in baseball right now. He is white hot right now too, tossing shutouts left and right. He will probably start for the NL in the All-Star game, and definitely could win 20 games this year. However, his prices aren't doing too much (all things considered).

For example, I won this auction last night:
[ebay:1tbu3evn]120442974720[/ebay:1tbu3evn]

Here's the same card of Evan Longoria (who has done absolutely jack squat since the beginning of the year):
[ebay:1tbu3evn]390061694467[/ebay:1tbu3evn]

More examples:

Lincecum Blue Ref Auto 9.5: [ebay:1tbu3evn]290325298210[/ebay:1tbu3evn]

Longoria Blue Ref Auto 9.5: [ebay:1tbu3evn]300325618757[/ebay:1tbu3evn]

Anyone have an explanation?

Lincecum is a pitcher, pitchers are very fragile.

sorry, its just the way it's always been

There seems to be a widespread notion that Lincecum will throw his arm out sometime soon. People are afraid of his unusual motion.

He's a pitcher. If you look at the history of baseball cards...yes, it's really that simple.

Pitchers- high risk, high reward. Drop them while they’re hot. then again, that's true for most prospects.

You also have to factor in the Lincecum has quite a few nice RC autograph cards while Longoria only has 2. But almost always hitters will sell better than pitchers.

Wait....

Did I really just hear this right??

Lincecum = underpriced?

$150 for a BC auto #/3000 of a pitcher seems low to you? Not to mention his thousands of other RC autos....

Hm.

Hm.

1- There aren't 3000 base chrome Lincecum auto's.
2- It's $150 for a BGS 9.5 10, not a raw.

I think it is more like 2700 base chrome autos....with nearly 2800 total BC RC autos

I won't pretend to know the exact print run, but 2700 seems kind of high to me. I have always been under the impression most bowman chrome/BCDP base auto's have a print run of about 1500-2000.

$150 does seem cheap for a 9.5 10 chrome auto of one of the best pitchers in the game, but like you said, Lincy signed in almost every single product in 2007 so there are a lot of different Lincy rookie auto's to choose from.

Why do so few here check out their statements before posting? It hurts your credibility when you're wrong.

Longo was leading the league in RBIs for quite some time before his recent slump. I know he won player of the week honors at least once.
