Andy LaRoche to Boston for two prospects (Argenis Diaz) and one to be named...

No wonder this GM foresees his "fired" door sometime soon...

Or the owner does not give a crap about his team???

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone could see this as a bad dump by the Pirates. Laroche isn't part of their future and frankly isn't all that good.

Type B free agent = Draft pick. sounds good to me.
Both Prospects werent in their future anyway. Pretty decent deal if you ask me.

Will the Sox offer him arbitration, though? I could see him accepting a 1 year/$8MM deal and I wouldn't think he's worth anywhere near that.

If they don't offer him arbitration, they don't get a compensatory pick.

I was thinking the same thing. I highly doubt they will since he probably can't get anything more on the open market.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this trade from the Pirates end. Neither prospect strikes me as being anything but minor league fillers, and I'd much rather have the comp pick at the end of the season. However, as mentioned, it's no sure thing that he would turn down arbitration.

It's ADAM LaRoche anyway. Not Andy.

I was listening to the game thanks to my iPhone and Neal Hintington was on there and said that it would likely be Pearce to play the majority of games at 1b. He even cited his 800 ops at triple a.
