Nick Swisher did it tonight for the Yankees. I looked on Baseball Almanac to see how often it happens, as I know a few Yankees have done it this season.
Nick Swisher did it once in 2005, he did it again in 2006, 3 times in 2007, twice in 2008, and now twice in 2009. 9 times in 5 years!
Also, 42/145 of the times this happened in the AL they were by a Yankees player. Those who hit all with the Yankees include, Mantle with 10, Posada 8, and Bernie Williams 8.
18/102 times it happened in the NL, a Mets player hit them.
Chili Davis and Eddie Murray have the most, with 11 each.
This has occured 8 times this season in the entire MLB, Swisher twice, Teixeira twice, and Melky, Tony Clark, Felipe Lopez, and Orlando Hudson, have all done it once this season.
Coincidentally, when Bill Mueller hit the two grandslams in one game one was hit from each side of the plate.
