Hosmer vs. Moustakas

Tomorrow BA will release its' Royals Top 10 Prospects list online.

I'd say it'll be a pretty close race between these two for the top spot.

Who would you give the #1 spot to? Or is there someone else you had in mind? (We all know who AKA Coastal is going to vote for. :lol

Moustakas, despite the lofty predictions by I believe Jim Callis for Eric Hosmer. If you minus Moustakas first month of pro ball, things look exciting.

Hosmer can flat out mash, and he is left handed.

My vote goes to hosmer, plus he has a nice car.

Agreed. I voted for Mous but it's pretty much prospect #1 and prospect #1a.

Because it's so close, I give it to the guy who has proven himself over a full season(well, Moose Tacos didn't prove it the WHOLE season). If Hosmer is performing like I think he can through about midseason and Moustakas isn't doing something miraculous, then I move Hosmer up, but it will still be close.

Gotta say that Moustakas is way ahead at this point for me.

In fact, I have him as my #4 prospect overall.

Not really that close in my eyes right now.

I think Hosmer has a higher ceiling & will hit for not only power but maintain a high average also! Moustakas would be #1 in alot of system's but I'd go with Hosmer for KC's (as was written earlier, there's 1a & 1b)...I give it to Hosmer but I'm not sure that's how BA will see it.

I think it's a complex comparison.

Hosmer is closer to playing.

Moustakas is a man without a position right now.

Moustakas has really grown up this year.

Hosmer is a spoiled brat.

Moustakas will be number 1.

Some other names that should be in the top group:

Duffy
Giavotella even though he is 5 ft 8
Cortes even w/ a rough fall league
Adrian Ortiz
Blake Wood
Kila
Caldera
Jason Taylor
Melville
Montgomery

Moustakas..I sold all of my K'aaihue's when he was hot last season. I've got 20 Moustakas elite's left. So I say Moustakas. Its all about the flavor of the month.

I bought 40+ Kila's BC Greens for 6.50-$15. and dumped them for $35-60. I put a lot of that into Moustakas Elites. Moustakas Elite's got down to $28's a pop on thepit.com.

From what I have heard, Moose has MUCH more power than Hosmer.

Comparisons I have heard are Moose to Braun, and Hosmer to Kotchman.

Can anyone comment on that?

I believe the Kotchman comps are mostly because they were both highly touted prep 1B from Florida with great polish at the plate, and also because Hosmer is projected to be a good defensive 1B, like Kotchman. Pretty much everything I've heard and seen makes me believe Hosmer has equal, if not greater power potential than Moustakas. Also, for what it's worth I haven't read or heard anyone compare Moustakas to Braun.

Ah ok, I thought it was more of an offensive projection.

I have always heard that Hosmer's power potential is around 20-25 HR, while Moose's is 35+.

Can't remember where I heard Braun, and it may not have been a reliable source, but I have also heard Utley for Moustakas. Of course I also heard Utley for Cardenas, and I don't see that happening.
