Question on PM speed

Sorry if this has been asked before, which I am sure it has, but why do PMs tend to take a very long time to send? It seems that they go very quickly to some people and never get sent to others. Is there any way to expedite the process? I have one PM that has been in my outbox for about 12 hours. Again, sorry if this is an over done topic, but I just got to the board, so I wasn't sure.

If a message is still in your outbox it's been sent and hasn't been read by whoever you sent it to. Once the person reads it, it'll disappear from the outbox
