Pretty amazing that we are even talking about this, as he began the season on the DL. He currently leads the majors with 157 hits (with 6 hits in 3 games so far in August). He has 26 games left in August, as the Mariners only have one off for the rest of the month (ugh). He is averaging 1.602 hits per game this year, just off his pace of 1.627 per game in his record breaking 262 hit season in 2004 (he has averaged 1.424 per game for his career).
If you project out his average this year, he needs 27 games to get 43 hits to get to 200 for the season, which is just one more game than the Mariners play this month.
With 1962 career hits, he needs only 38 for 2000, which is 24 games based on his 2009 pace.
Either way, both milestones are just around the corner.
