IMO they should just shut him down for the season. The last 3 starts have not been Bumgarner-esque, and a lot of innings in consecutive seasons can weigh heavy on a young arm.

This is the also the first time I have realized that Bumgarner is a flyball pitcher (never really looked at his MilB page)....That will not serve him well in the bigs.

It's not like SF is a bandbox, though. Koufax was a flyball pitcher. A lot of lefties are flyball pitchers. Most power pitchers, in fact, are flyball pitchers. But if you strike out enough batters, then there aren't going to be that many big home runs.

Jon Bachanov is come back in respectable fashion after shoulder problems and TJS. He went 2 innings tonight striking out 4. On the year, he has 27K's in 16.1IP as a reliever. Anyone know if he is projected to be in the pen from here on?
