He had 1 HR COMBINED his freshman and sophomore years and only 6 homers his junior year (they year he got drafted).

Was he a stick or something? Pretty rare and guy in college using aluminum goes from 7 HR is 3 years to a 20 HR per year guy in the MLB with wood.

We are talking about 7 home runs in 700 at bats with aluminum off mostly mediocre pitching to 25 home runs off MLB pitching with wood

Davenport Field at UVA is widely considered one of the worst hitter's parks in college baseball.

Left Field - 335 ft
Left Center - 377 ft
Center Field - 408 ft
Right Center - 377 ft
Right Field - 335 ft

Mark Reynolds is their all-time HR leader with 35 in his 3 years at Virginia. Sean Doolittle hit 22 in 3 years, and he now has 30 HRs in his 3 minor league seasons. Joe Koshansky hit 26 in 4 years, and he now has 155 minor league HRs and 3 MLB HRs.

Simply put, that's a tough park to hit the longball.

He gained muscle,changed/improved his stance(like most players do),he's also a guy who hits a ton of doubles so eventually(if all goes right development wise) that turns into hrs.

not 40 plus, actually just under 40, but after this year, he will put his average over 40.
