Decided to try and complete the 1957 Topps set

I was sitting around deciding where my collection is going and I was looking through some of my vintage and saw I had 1957 Topps cards of:

Since I've already got a few of the better cards in the set, I've decided to full out go for the complete set. I'll have to go through more boxes and binders because I know I've got some more 57 topps in there.

Anyways I thought I'd start a progress thread for those interested. I'd also like to ask if anyone has 57 topps they want to trade/sell/give, I'm open to offers and posts. I'll update as the set goes along. My goal is to finish by 12.31.2009.

Daily I sit and try to decide on which set to go after...'63 Topps (Musials last card, Rose rc), '64 Topps (love the design) or '71 Topps (beautiful looking cards).

All great sets! 63 has always been one of my favorites. If you decide to go after any of those, I've got a bunch of cards I can send your way. Once you decide on a set of course.

I've got Preston Ward #226. It'd be cool if we get more people posting the vintage sets they are working on and trade cards amongst ourselves. I have quite a few myself and buy 25-50 vintage commons a paycheck to use ttm. When i hit the shop again I'll pick up some more 57's for you. I am working on 1954 Bowman signed set but need many of the living players to send out to get signed and Orioles team sets 1954-69. Heres the link to my 54's :

Nice looking set man. I've got a 54 bowman Williams, but not auto'd. I appreciate the looking out for '57's. I'll do the same for the 54 Bowman's.

From one 50's set collector to another, I want to wish you the best of luck in finishing your set. I think the mid to late 50's sets are the best looking topps vintage cards. The 1957 Topps set is really great set to collect.

Good luck Andy, I have worked on this set intermitently (sp?) over the years but have never really focused on it. I currently have 184/411 or 412? (counting checklists in count). I have some of the big stars but need Mantle and the 2 Robinson rookies. I'll keep my eyes out as well as I am sure I will get back to this set some time.

Graymouse- Thanks for the bid of luck. I have to say that the 55 PSA 7 set you've got going is amazing. I've got a Jackie Robinson at PSA that I'm expecting a 7 or better on, but I see you've already got one.

MaineMule- I was doing some research and with the contest cards & penny card, I think the set is upwards of 421 cards. I'll let you know what doubles I can find and see if you need them. It seems this is another thing that we are both working on. First Vintage Williams, now this. What other sets are you working on if any?

One of the best looking vintage sets, IMO. Good luck on the rest. I'm going to try and complete the 1933 Goudey set. If anyone has multiples for trade, let me know. I'll keep an eye out for those '57s.

I figure initially I can probably get to 200 or so before I'm going to have to start buying individual cards. Gonna be an expensive project, but more so when I get all of them graded.
