Like Arizona needs another reason to go watch baseball.

The Advanced Instructional League is going to happen. Some Minor League Directors have said this will change AFL assignments for teams that have their complexes in Arizona.

As we learned last year, the Hawaii Winter Baseball league shut it’s doors with nowhere for the prospects to call home for this season. With the fate of the season up in the air, the decision to move to AZ was made for the following year. Taking initiative, farm managers have gone ahead and created their own informal competitive instructional league that begins play this week. All games are free.

The schedule is as follows:

September 24: at Glendale
September 25: vs. Peoria
September 28: at Goodyear
September 29: vs. Glendale
October 1: at Peoria
October 2: vs. Goodyear
October 5: at Glendale
October 6: vs. Peoria
October 8: at Goodyear
October 9: vs. Glendale
October 12: at Peoria
October 13: vs. Goodyear
October 15: at Glendale
October 16: vs. Peoria

Next year they are going to have all MLB teams submit prospects.
