I say that we are in a win-win situation. either we get Alcides and JJ moves to 3rd, or Alcides gets some possibly needed seasoning at Nashville and he shows up later, after he proves that his year with the bat was no fluke.

I think most people would agree that having JJ at short is above average, so there is no need to rush Alcides. One day very soon, they'll be an nearly impenatrable wall of leather and range on that side of the infield.

Unfortuantely, it will starkly contrast the sieve of holes, bobbles and poor scoops/digs on the other side of the infield.
