While I agree a very distasteful article, it's the NY Post. I wouldn't get too wound up by it, we pretty much use the paper for potty training ours pets, and wiping the shat off our shoes

I wouldn't even use this to pee on, if I were being potty trained...

"GIVE ME your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free" compared to ... a cheesesteak.
How about the Liberty Bell as a monument. Or how about Philly being the first capital of the US, as well as the central city for making this a country.

I hope the NY Post burns down, ignorant bastards.

To me, this seems like getting upset about something that you see on a mag in the checkout lane at the grocery store. There are plenty of crap publications in the world and the Post is one of them.

I can't believe a half-respectable news publication would run that story. That is unbelievably bad journalism. Why would you EVER trash another town like that in such a big paper? I don't care about what city you're from -- you're American. Want to trash talk their baseball club? Go ahead, but that is just plain sick.

Is that really even considered a real "newspaper"? It reads like an Onion article :lol:

That's the thing, it isn't. The Post became more of a tabloid newspaper in the 80s I do believe.

We all read posts by Yankees fan on here daily. Is anyone really that surprised by things that Yankees fans said in that article? Better yet, did you read some of the stuff they said in the comments? I would like to say I am surprised, but not in the slightest.

Tabloid paper or not, it just further illustrates the point that most people make about Yankees fans.

By the way- That is a general statement. I am sure that every Yankees fan will now be pissed at me.

<Yankee Fan Pre-Winning Season> "OMG we are always so picked on. Leave us alone. Stop treating us like bad guys."

<Yankee Fan in the Post Season> "IN YOUR FACE LOSERS. PHILLIES? MORE LIKE FILTHIES! AMIRITE GUYS?!?!? LOL YOU ALL SUCK! EAT ME!"

Just being general, of course. A lot of fans are very cordial guys.

Actually New York City was the first United States Capitol....

United States Constitution

* Federal Hall, New York City, New York: March 4, 1789 to December 5, 1790
* Congress Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: December 6, 1790 to May 14, 1800
* United States Capitol, Washington, D.C.: November 17, 1800 to present[c]

That article is not indicative of anything in New York; they usually try to find and print the most inflammatory statements they can...you should see the political cartoons. Almost all the real Yankees fans I've talked to are worried about the Phillies, they are the defending champs. Conversely, the Yankees haven't been in the WS since '03. Also while the Post sucks, it is the oldest continuously run daily newspaper...and it was started by Alexander Hamilton.

What a bunch of self-righteous, pompous, blow-hards...if you didn't have a reason to despise New York before, this crap will get your there...and quickly.

I hope you meant the Yankees or Yankees fans and not New York City itself.

Philly was the capital in 1774 under the First Continental Congress. Then it moved to Baltimore, back to Philadelphia. and then to New York. New York was the first capital under the Constitution though.

Not sure how one should have been able to tell it was a joke. Didn't appear to be one to me. Even if it was, it is one that gets rather old.
