Ok obviously you all know who I think deserves the CY Young. But I'll make this a non bias post/poll and just let the stats talk (as their are many arguments for each player).

2009 stats of Lincecum, Carpenter, Wainwright, in that order:
GS/QS (32/26, 28/22, 34/25);
Innings (225.1, 192.2, 227.0);
CG/SHO (4/2, 3/1, 1/0);
Wins (15, 17, 19);
ERA (2.48, 2.24, 2.58);
Strikeouts (261, 144, 204);
K/9 (10.42, 6.73, 8.09);
K/BB ratio (3.84, 3.79, 3.19);
WHIP (1.05, 1.01, 1.21);
FIP ERA (2.34, 2.78, 3.11);
HR (10, 7, 17);
BAA (,206, .226, .244);
SLG (.290, .308, .350);
OPS (.560, .580, .647)

The win total will hold Lincecum back some, but by the #'s he should repeat. Wainright and Carpenter may takes votes from each other, but all 3 really do deserve to win.

No starting pitcher has ever won a CYA with less than 16 wins in a non-strike season. In fact, 1981 is the only season where it happened (Fernando Valenzuela had 13 wins), as the CYA winners in 1994 and 1995 all had at least 16 wins.

Brandon Webb had 16 wins when he won it in 2006, which is the fewest for a winner (along with David Cone and Greg Maddux with 16 in 1994's strike season).

If I were choosing, Lincy would win it again. Unfortunately, there is no doubt that Wainwright wins in my mind, however. Wins cannot possibly be more overrated, but that seems to be all the voters care about.

I think Timmy should win but I'm a homer. Honestly, how many wins would Lincecum have if he was on the Cardinals, 22+?

Just 15 wins doesn't cut it for me. Wins aren't that important, but you can't ignore a 4 win difference. And Wainwright was altogether better than Carp, with his more IP and more QS.
Last year: Lincecum 18, Webb 22

i'll admit i was shooting from the hip and those numbers don't lie. but only 15 wins just isn't that impressive, especially since the Giants as a team were much better this year.
