Absolute must win for the 49ers or the season may be over. We have winnable games from here on out, its time to put up or shut up. I also wish Vernon Davis would've kept his mouth shut. No need to talk any noise when losing 4 games in a row.

I like the Niners but it would be real hard to put alot of $$$ on that offense right now, especially with "The Captain" shooting off his yap.

Food for thought:

Alex Smith in the 2 minutes of the first half: 12 for 14 with 2 TDs and 140 yards.

Alex Smith with the game's outcome in his hands the past three games:

5 for 11 with 3 INTs and 2 sacks.

In the last 2 1/2 games the defense has given up 55 points with Smith under center. 27 of those points are a direct result of Smith's turnovers.

One reason Smith is in the game is because of his mobility. In the last 2 games he has been sacked 8 times for 52 yards. Peyton Manning has been sacked 12 times in 8 games in comparison.

Alex Smith had the ball not once but twice in the 4th quarter trailing by 4 then 7 points last week. He didn't move the ball 10 yards in two possessions.

Smith had a 17-10 lead then because of his mistakes was outscored 24- before a meaningless TD against a prevent defense down two scores.

I rather take my chances with the Bears :D

I didn't know Alex Smith played defense too!!!! Was he on the field when the Titans marched right down the field after Smith helped his team take a 20-17 lead????

No the defense was on the sidelines watching the defender rumble 39 yards for the pick 6 that sealed the win

Smith is 6 for 22 on 3rd down in two games. Wow, is that pathetic!

2 of the 6 were on the ground.

1 pass complete on 3rd was against the prevent defense.

So that leaves him 3 for 19 moving the chains with a pass down less than a TD or a tie game.

1 was down 2 scores against the prevent defense.

So that leaves him 3 for 19 moving the chains with a pass.

No doubt that he does suck, but who do you want them to put in, Shaun Hill!?!?!? He's just as bad!!!

Agreed, why not talk about the crappy o-line play? Put up Shaun Hill's stats too for comparison.

Does it really look like our 3rd down conversation success has really changed with Smith? I see 6 turn overs from Smith in 10 quarters of play and 3 turn overs from Hill in 22 quarters of play. And each quarter back has one INT that wasn't their fault. So it is more accurately 5 for Smith and 2 for Hill.

I think the Alex Smith experiment ends tonight.

Smith will have the dubious record of going 0-3 in 12 days and may even go 0 for 4 with the ball in his hands to win the game trailing by 7 points or less.

I think he will win the game tonight with a better game plan by the Offensive Coordinator by not going away from the run so early in the game.

They rushed the ball 10 times in the 2nd half. They were commited to the run until Smith's fumbles, INTs, sacks. Hopefully changing QBs is part of the better game plan. ::facepalm::
