What a blow to Miami that would be, though I'm sure Ricky can "fire up" enough game to keep things productive.

The Dolphins publicly have acknowledged that running back Ronnie Brown will miss Thursday night's game against the Panthers due to a foot injury suffered on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

The Dolphins have not publicly acknowledged that the team fears Brown will miss the remainder of the season.

Per a league source, the current thinking is that Brown will not be able to play again this year. Of course, this could change based upon the advice of the specialist that Brown eventually sees and the success of rehab efforts.

The challenge for the Dolphins will be to decide whether to carry Brown on the roster in the hopes he can return, or to send him to injured reserve and create a roster spot.

Some Fins fans might be wondering why the Dolphins didn't make a run at running back Larry Johnson, due to Brown's injury. The fact that Miami V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells is the father-in-law of Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli answers that question fairly conclusively.

I don't know if they stay as effective as they have been running the football. Ricky is a good runner but I think a lot of the reason he and Brown are so effective with the reason is a by-product of the wildcat misdirection scheme where defenders need to respect and account for the lateral motion of Ricky and the interior run of Brown. They mix up the carries so that it keeps defenders honest about their gap responsibilities and they cannot overcommit to either runner without risk. They will likely do more of the same with Pat White in place of Ronnie, and they may mix in more passes from White just to maintain some additional element of unpredictability. They may keep up the pace but no one can say they are better off without Brown in the game.

Wow, Henne might actually have to play QB now
Chad Henne is a joke.

I went like this ::facepalm:: when I saw people paying 150+ for a silly SPA patch/auto. This guy is as overrated as possible. He might not win another game this year. In the two games against the Jets I think he was 3 for 10 on third down passing the ball.....you will go far as a QB when you have to only convert 2 third downs a game and be 2-0 LOL.

I had Brown but I also have Ricky Williams (I know this sounds bad but I'm glad Williams gets another chance before he retires to showcase what he's got as a premier back, I know Pat White will be in the Wildcat formation a bit more but we're still going to see what Ricky can do as the featured back)! It also helps that I have a pretty extensive Rookie PC of Ricky Williams... ;) :D

Dolphins placed Brown on IR, ending his 09 season. The team's playoffs hope were already fading, and now they are slim. Henne has not shown that he can be a star on a team, and the wildcat takes a massive hit. Williams was a great #2 with the Wildcat but i don't think he can run it.
