Tonight I purchased the domain name HackWilson.com from the same guy I purchased CapAnson.com from 3 years ago. He had a lot of HOF domain names at one time and has since divested himself of most of them. If anyone is interested in LarryDoby.com, that's the last name he has left.

So my new project for the winter months will be building a site dedicated to this unique figure from baseball's past. He was a feared slugger, a fearsome drinker and a physical oddity. I hope I can build a site that does him justice.

I only own one Hack Wilson card, but that will probably change as I delve into his history. I have some reading to do before attacking this. First up, the biography "Fouled Away."

Anyone have any Hack Wilson cards or collectibles to show off?

sweet! I too will be looking forward to your new content. just curious, how much does a domain name such as this set a person back?

If it's a name that's not already registered, not much, less than $15 usually depending on who you register it through.

For something that's already owned, you have to negotiate with the owner. If it's an established site with good traffic, it can be hundreds or thousands of dollars. This name did not. It's a strong domain name, since it is the player's actual name (well in this case nickname) with a .com extension (more desirable than .net or .info), so those go for more. But this only cost me $50, since he wanted to sell it to a baseball fan that would develop a site for it, and he has seen what I did with his old CapAnson.com site. Seems like a deal to me to lock up a HOF'ers name for as long as I want.

I need you to negotiate dalemurphy.com away from the owner. Every time I inquire he tells me about all the visions of the site he has and how it's going to be the #1 source of Murphy news, memorabilia, etc. That's been 10+ years and the site looks basically the same...crappy. I would kill to have it!

PS...on topic - I love the job you do on your site (I look at markgrace.com frequently). Can't wait for the new one.

191 freaking RBIs in 1930 (although I grew up knowing it to be 190 before it was changed in 1999).

More than either Nick Markakis, David Ortiz, Lance Berkman, Josh Hamilton, Manny Ramirez, Joe Mauer, Matt Kemp, and Hanley Ramirez had COMBINED in 2008-2009.

Can't wait to see the new site.

My favorite bit about Hack Wilson were his tiny feet, and I mean children's tiny.

That beefy 190lb slugger stood a mere 5'6" and had size 6 shoes.

Every photo of him just amazes me, it's like his feet were bound.

I would love a site like your capanson one myself. Top to bottom that might be the best player site on the internet. And I'm not exaggerating here

 as did I. I didn't even realize it was changed in '99. I thought my memory was playing tricks on me

I love that fact too. They were actually 5 1/2, if you can believe it, supporting his 190-230 lb. frame (his weight fluctuated quite a bit with his drinking).

My favorite bit about Hack is how he was described as having the physique of a fire hydrant.
