I thought it would be cool to have a sticky thread called "The FCB Museum" that consisted of the following:

1. High End Vintage
2. PSA DNA Vintage Autographs
3. High Grade or Super Rare Key RC's from 1976-2000
4. 1/1's (No Plates)
5. Logomen, Barrels, buttons, and Knobs.
6. Cut Signatures

We could have a 5 person committee to decide on the Vintage cards that are close. We may need a 5 person committee for newer cards like low print run key RC's and super unique patches.

* There will be no words allowed and no quoting the pictures. 1 card per post.
This would make for a fluid thread that flows like an art museum.

THOUGHTS?

i could be on the committee
also not all cuts should make it in as some are just ugly
also it has to be a card the person posting the card owns
and we should put all sports in here

yes, I would enjoy a museum thread... with the stuff you described but also tough sets from any year that maybe only 1 or 2 people were ever able to complete

Yes, I like that addition.

Should it be 1 long line

2005 Bowman Chrome Troy Tulowitzki Superfractor RC 1/1, BGS 9.5

or something like this:

Year: 2005
Manufacturer: Topps
Brand: Bowman Chrome
Player(s): Tulowitzki
Short Description: Superfractor 1/1 BGS 9.5

1) We may need more committees as well
2) I agree on the cuts, also some cuts really aren't museum worthy
3) I FULLY agree and forgot to include that in my initial post
4) all sports or an FCB Museum for each board?

This could work with possibly the key card from the set and a hidden link in the description of the set that takes you to a photobucket or something...???

I love brain storming...takes me back to my marketing classes.

Famous firsts should also be included(first autograph, first patch, first gu card, etc.)

Yes, I didn't want to get long winded, but I figured the Griffey/Mantle, Crusade Red's, and so on would also be good ideas from cards...

Maybe some the 90's inserts guys could come up with a good guidline for this...

Why not just have a hey, show whatever you want thread....oh wait that's the random card thread. All you're doing is removing comments which is partly why people show off cards...If no one comments on your 'great card' does that make you really great, really bad or indifferent?

I collect for me and no one could tell me anything more about my 1/1's or Super Rare cards than I already know. That being said, I own cards and almost everyone on this board owns cards that almost everyone would love to see.

The no comments/quoting part simply keeps the thread clean and crisp, it is simply a thread for looking at beautiful and historic cards.

Or, to solve that problem, there could be the "Museum [Comment] Thread," or what have you? In there, people may quote the image/card from the "Museum Thread" and leave the comment in the latter thread.

* to be clear, the Museum thread wouldn't mean no more player, mailday, 90's insert etc threads....maybe this will help out on the comments issue.

The thread will be too difficult to manage although I can appreciate the sentiment. Many people will sell the great cards they've once owned; and the decision process for determining what a 'museum quality' piece would be way too subjective and potentially insulting to some people if their selections were not chosen.

I agree the random card thread is a fantastic thread. Sounds like the OP may be best served by just creating a 1/1 and $100+ (or whatever amount) card thread - although such a thread would overlap the random card thread to some extent.

an idea is before a card could be entered into the museum the owner could submit a yes/no poll, and if it gets 60% or higher approval rating, its in? that way people can be annonymous too in their voting?

I will do one now just to try it ;)
