Theres goes all hope at a 2010 rebound, I guess we need to hope for a 2011 rebound now.

EDIT: Just read that he was non-tendered by the Angels. I still hope Arredondo will be able to bounce back.

In this case, the Angels probably don't want to pay to wait for Arrendondo to come back, when they've conceded he might not pitch until 2011.

Too bad, he was supposed to the heir apparent to Francisco Rodriguez.

He was never considered the heir apparent to Frankie outside of a few fans. With all of his issues, the Angels FO was extremely hesitant to put him in the closers role, which is why they went out and signed Fuentes to a 2 year deal (w/ a 3rd year vesting option).

arredondo isn't necessarily "done" with the angels. unless someone else takes a flier on him, he will more than likely be signed to a milb deal and sent to tempe to rehab. this is simply a move to free up a spot on the 40 man while not having to pay arredondo the mlb minimum to rehab.

that's right he was never k-rods replacement, arredondo was a neat story though, the angels converted him from an infielder to pitcher in a few years, last year was forgettable, the year before he was amazing, apparently he was also a terrible club house guy...

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. There's been a few guys being resigned after being nontendered.

However, even if he was on the 40-man, you can put him on the 60-day DL, which also frees up a spot.
