Is there a way to erase signatures off an OMLB?

I have about 6 OMLB's with random players and i would like to erase the signatures to get new player signatures on them, anyone know a way that won't leave them all messed up. Signatures im trying to erase are
Dave Roberts
Mark Loretta
Sean Burroughs ::facepalm::
etc

Whats is it signed with and where are the sigs at on the ball ?

Anything I can think of that would remove ballpoint ink--like Goof Off--would probably leave a terrible stain that you wouldn't want either.

They are all in blue ballpoint, most of them are signed on the sweet spot, i just tried rubbing alcohol and it left a terrible stain.

Actually, Pinetar, I have used steel wool and a fine grit sandpaper to remove marker off of baseball gloves that I have bought at garage sales. I scrub like heck, then go over it with glove oil and they turn out pretty good. Didn't think it would have the same effect on a baseball.

Thanks, it works pretty well, leaves a mark at first but dries off, and i'm sure the smell will be gone if i air it out for a while.

Wow that statement is just wrong.

But seriously why would you try to erase/rub out a auto. It would ruin the ball and it becomes "doctored". Just go and buy a new ball.

It can be done with erasers or fine sand paper but it isn't easy and might not turn out well everytime. The longer it's been there the harder it will be to get off most likely.

Maybe try to trade the signed balls you have for something. Or, maybe just sell them individually, or as a lot to recoup a little money.

I use to do it a minor league games all the time with game used foul or batting practice balls. It cleaned the balls up nice and neat and allowed me to use the new york penn balls for autos without paying for them.

PS. I also recommend a tooth brush for this adventure

Although Andy stole my answer, you can also use a magic eraser if the autograph has not been there for years. The trick is to not allow to much water to get on the sponge and take your time with it. When your done, place the ball in a sock and let it dry about 5 minutes on low heat in your dryer. If you let the water dry on its own it will turn yellow because the ball has already been treated with distilled water and your tap water contains minerals that turn the ball yellow. The tap water eats the coat of paint on the leather also over time.

I post some pics of some balls with the sweetspots altered and then resigned over.

I use a regular pencil eraser. It works just fine. I had a few balls with some ink marks on them(pretty big ink marks) and I just used the eraser on the end of a no.2 pencil and it came right off. You'd never know it was there. not sure how long this works for since your autos may be a few years old but its worth a try.

You can do it on a mini helmet but I am not so sure an eraser would totally remove anything from a ball.
