Absolutely no thought has been put into this list, other than telling the machine to spit out a number for me. Considering that I've been tuning this for a while, I'm quite happy to spit out the TOP 50 Prospects as seen by the machine.

The machine measures how much other people love prospects, so it's been favouring 2009 Draft Picks, it seems.

Not all that absurd when you consider the machine never saw the players play in person....

I had to tell the machine to completely ignore Chris Johnson and Brandon Jacobs because it refuses to listen when you tell it to ignore anything with "football" anywhere important on the page. It definitely has some of it's flaws which I'm sure have more to do with the formatting of webpages than itself.

As long as you don't tell it to try and differentiate between a football and baseball player with the same name, it's very happy.

what data did you use to compile this?

I have tried to do a similar project that ended up getting tabled for lack of man power.

I ended up building a few databases and a robot and going from there.

my project was to combine lists from respected evaluators and writers into a consensus opinion

hence... Prospectus Consensus

Yah, definitely a good call. I've got Sickels' information into a database, but that's about it right now. Baseball Prospectus is lagging behind and I was going to wait on Baseball America. There are a few others that're really intriguing.

I was going to use them as a constant, as previous versions appear to have a rather large statistical significance.

Once the big boys finish up with their top-200/300's, I'll definitely shoot you an SQL dump of the file.

If you have any recommendations for sites other than the ones that I listed, hit me up and I'll throw it in.
