Bats
#1) Damon - L
#2) Jeter - R
#3) Matsui - L
#4) AROD - R
#5) Tex - S
#6) Nady - R
#7) Swisher - S
#8) Posada - S
#9) Cano - L

I honestly think that Gardner should lead off and play more games than Damon and Melky. I was debating Nady and Swisher switching them multiple times. Whatchat think?

And everyone's a year older.

The middle of the order will be great. The rest is recognizable names that are either overrated or in decline.

If the players mentioned were injured we would put Gardner in at center and either sign a free agent for catcher or call someone up. Jeter is still going to put up a .280+ average. I think Tex can play wherever, I mean, the guy is a stud. But you never know with those Yankee fans, 2 bad games in a row and you start to get booed which is disgusting IMO.

Well, kinda. Sox don't look that much better.

1 Ellsbury
2 Pedroia
3 Ortiz - health?
4 Youk
5 Lowell - health?
6 Bay
7 Drew - health?
8 Lowrie - tailed off at end of last season
9 we don't even have a catcher

Yea but the Sox are stacked for a long time with Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youk, and Bay. All those guys are freakin studs

What has Gardner really proved? Nothing but a over hyped player.

dude is a speedster. I would not say he's overhyped. He will be the Jacoby Ellsbury type player but Ells is better.

#1) Damon - L -will get injured Might be but if healthy great leadoff hitter.
#2) Jeter - R - career is on the downside Still does his job will bat .300
#3) Matsui - L If healthy will see too many fastballs to count with arod behind him.
#4) AROD - R - amazing regular season, terrible postseason
#5) Tex - S - can he handle NY? Could he handle Boston either gg defense and a steady offensive threat
#6) Nady - R Solid hitter/fielder good player
#7) Swisher - S OBP is always good.
#8) Posada - S - will get injured. Was never a guy who was injured. Healthy now and will play less games at a higher level
#9) Cano - L Look for a bouce back this year .300 hitter

Burnett will get injured as well. Thats just like saying Beckett wont get a hang nail injury.

The Yankees defense is going to be absolutely awful next year as well. Posada can hardly be relied on behind the plate following major shoulder surgery. Damon or Swisher in CF- that's just bad. Jeter and Cano up the middle will make the worst middle infield defensive tandem in the league again. Teixeira is the only average or better defensive player they have. Nady is marginally average in right, making him their 2nd best defensive player.

That defense is going to be absolutely terrible.

Matsui is a solid fielder IMO. And Tex is a little better than "average or better." He is the best fielding first baseman in the league. Jeter may not be what he used to be but he's not the worst in the league.

Word on the street is that Ortiz is very healthy right now and he is going to hit like the Ortiz a few seasons ago. :)
Lowell should be all good and rested up and I can see him having a solid season.
Drew should be good to go
Lowrie will do a heck of a lot better than Lugo!!!
We will resign Varitek
And we might see Lars in there a little later in the season. ;)

Maybe I'm too optimistic but hey....I can't wait for the season to start. :D

Matsui is below average and is a huge injury risk. Jeter is one of the worst defensive shortstops in the game, that's a fact. He has never been an above average defensive player. There's no point in debating that because anyone who argues otherwise clearly has no idea how to evaluate defense.

Teixeira is one of the 2 or 3 best fielding first baseman. That's why I said he's the only average or better defensive player on the team. Everyone else is slightly below average or worse.
