Posted this over on sickles site, what do you guys think here?

Kemp: Superstar 30/30 player, will he be a perennial MVP caliber player for years

McCutchen: Great speed, will he develope 25 HR pop and can the Pirates build around him

Rasmus: Rare mix of Power, Patience, and fielding, can he hit lefties

Fowler: How much power can he develope

Jackson: Can he become the next Granderson

Jennings: Is he the next Crawford

No way.
Kemp's a big star now and McCutchen and Rasmus could become one.
But I don't see most of the other guys as more than a Kenny Lofton type, which is still very good.

When you use the term "Golden Age" it implies filled with superstars.
Like the 1950s, when the great centerfielders included Hall of Famers like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Duke Snider, Richie Ashburn, Larry Doby and other stars.

I don't see the current group of centerfielders as any better than in other decades.

Not Even close.

Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and Duke Snyder. That was in NY alone.

EDIT: How Granderson not on here? He is entering his prime on a team that will allow him to score 100+ runs in a park where he can hit 30-40 HR's.

I'm liking the outfield combo of Adam Jones and Nick Markakis.

...Not to mention Reimold,Arrieta,Wieters,Tillman. Just give the O's a few years.

-Sorry didn't mean to drift off topic.

-Gauge.

in terms of great centerfielders, Franklin Gutierrez had the 2nd best UZR(any position) ever last year. led all of baseball by a mile. also getting bigger and the bat keeps coming around, is batting .350

There was also the era with Ty Cobb Tris Speaker and Hack Wilson. This generation of CF isn't even close yet.

Seriously...we need to respond to that?

And how in the world did you leave out (arguably) the best CF in the NL right now, Nyjer Morgan.
