Well, stopped at my hobby shop Saturday to try my luck on a box of 2008 Bowman Chrome. Also decided to purchase the shop's last box of 2008 Goudey. I wasn't a fan of last year's Goudey, but had bought a retail blaster of this year's version and liked it much better (normal card size).

The Bowman Chrome box was a total letdown. 4 rookie card logo refractors and 2 veteran refractors, nothing besides common refractors (no X's or colors). My auto was a common chrome of Andrew Brackman, who is a Yankees 1st rounder, but also is out for the season after having Tommy John surgery  This box doesn't even deserve scans.

Goudey, on the other hand, was a blast to open. Got a lot of nice shortprints, inserts, two numbered inserts (including a beautiful Ernie Banks mini #21/34 that this Cubs fan will keep PC), a Jorge Posada jersey, and the real show stopper, a Mike Schmidt Goudey Greats on-card autograph, which is a short print (UD says less than 100 copies). My four year-old helped me open the boxes too. The Banks and Mike Schmidt were in his packs, so now he's convinced he's the best baseball card puller in the world. It's fun seeing him start to appreciate the hobby, even if he picks old UD Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes packs at the shop (anyone have any of those singles laying around???)

Sounds like a great weekend indeed!

Brackman is one of the top autos in 2008 B Chrome! lol

Isnt it ironic that you like the Banks Mini in 2008 Goudey, but stayed away from the 2007's for that very reason? lol

Like 'em as an insert, hate 'em as the regulars as they are a pain to store that many oddball sized cards.
