He strikes out about 1:3 AB's as well. In the CAL, no less.
If a kid can crank 30+ and the MLB level and still hit .275 or better and field his position they can find a place for him. They'll never know until they try.

He's not even hitting 30+ HRs at the A ball level.

Because the season is like 1/4th of the way through. He will.

Hopefully they promote him and don't give him a chance to.

He hit 26 last year. 26 < 30, against low level competition.

Last year is last year. Who says the kid can't improve. Just because he's non Jesus Montero or J-Hey doesn't mean he can't mash.

High K numbers usually represent either hand eye problems or pitch selection problems, either one will kill you at the next level... much less the MLB level. The jump from A ball to AA ball is usually the hardest to make. If he's still mashing this way in AA when he is promoted, then a case could be made for him.

Regardless of the numbers, a 24 year old in A+ ball had better be killing it. He's a masher, I agree, but if he can't touch the ball in the MLB then he's going to have problems. Kyle Blanks is a masher too, but he's having big time trouble in San Diego making consistent contact.

My arguement is...if you never promote him to AA then you'll never know. He's done well enough in A ball to at least get a shot, even tho he's not a top 100 prospect.
