If a kid can crank 30+ and the MLB level and still hit .275 or better and field his position they can find a place for him. They'll never know until they try.Jaypers said:He strikes out about 1:3 AB's as well. In the CAL, no less.
He's not even hitting 30+ HRs at the A ball level.bmc398 said:If a kid can crank 30+ and the MLB level and still hit .275 or better and field his position they can find a place for him. They'll never know until they try.Jaypers said:He strikes out about 1:3 AB's as well. In the CAL, no less.
Because the season is like 1/4th of the way through. He will.Hallsgator said:He's not even hitting 30+ HRs at the A ball level.bmc398 said:If a kid can crank 30+ and the MLB level and still hit .275 or better and field his position they can find a place for him. He hit 26 last year. 26 < 30, against low level competition.bmc398 said:Because the season is like 1/4th of the way through. Hopefully they promote him and don't give him a chance to.
Last year is last year. Who says the kid can't improve. Just because he's non Jesus Montero or J-Hey doesn't mean he can't mash.Hallsgator said:He hit 26 last year. 26 < 30, against low level competition.bmc398 said:Because the season is like 1/4th of the way through. My arguement is...if you never promote him to AA then you'll never know. He's done well enough in A ball to at least get a shot, even tho he's not a top 100 prospect.Vagrant said:High K numbers usually represent either hand eye problems or pitch selection problems, either one will kill you at the next level... much less the MLB level. The jump from A ball to AA ball is usually the hardest to make. If he's still mashing this way in AA when he is promoted, then a case could be made for him.
Regardless of the numbers, a 24 year old in A+ ball had better be killing it. He's a masher, I agree, but if he can't touch the ball in the MLB then he's going to have problems. Kyle Blanks is a masher too, but he's having big time trouble in San Diego making consistent contact.
