I honestly don't see a clear-cut #1 this week, but I'm going to predict Ethan Martin will take it.

His past two starts over this past week (in the hitter-friendly CAL) -

15 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 15 K

Other guys I see making the Hot Sheet or Team Photo, in no particular order, are:

Nolan Arenado
Mike Trout
Tim Wheeler
Tim Beckham
Jon Singleton (he might give Martin a run for the #1 spot)
Rich Poythress
Devin Mesoraco
Ben Revere
J.P. Arencibia
Arodys Vizcaino
Dan Hudson
Tyler Matzek
Jeremy Hellickson
Randall Delgado
Kyle Gibson
Julio Teheran
Bryan Morris
Blake Beavan
Stolmy Pimentel
Aroldis Chapman

Helium -- Wilking Rodriguez

If I missed anyone significant, please add them.

What about Jake Arrieta?

May 20 PAW 1 0 0.00 1 1 0 0 0 7.0 4 0 0 0 2 10 1.75 .154
May 25 ROC 1 0 1.29 1 1 0 0 0 7.0 7 1 1 0 2 6 1.00 .259

His start on the 20th won't count, as it took place last Thursday. The starting date is always on Friday. (This week, it's the 21st).

His start on the 25th was good, and might get him in the Team Photo.

I am certainly not saying he belongs with this group, but is Daniel Moskos going to ever get any credit for the season he is having? He had two more saves this week, three more scoreless innings dropping his ERA to 1.25

Yes he is a RP for the Pirates, has only pitched 21.2 innings in 18 games and he has walked 8 batters, but his 11 saves, 1-0 record and 21 Ks, is pretty good for the controversial #4 overall pick in the 2007 draft.

Relievers almost never make the Hot Sheet, unless they flat out dominate.

Tanner Scheppers fits that criteria, and I don't see him making it, either. His line over the past week:

5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 K

If Scheppers did not give up the run if would have been tough to not list him. Those 11 ks in 5 innings are tough to overlook.

LAst 10 games
.429 BA 4 HR 14 RBI 3 BB/6 SO

How about this line:

Last 10 Games:

.467 BA, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 9 Runs, 5 2B, 3 BB/4 SO,

In only 30 At Bats.

Also, .529 OBP, 1.033 SLG, 1.563 OPS

Thats a pretty good line if you ask me. He has only played 13 games in AA and is tearing up the Eastern League.

Lo Cain had a pretty good week.

Heckathorn had 2 good games, giving up only 2 ER and striking out 10 in 14 IP.

not a chance

I posted this in this thread already. He is not Michael Stanton, so he will never see the light of day on a hot list. It sucks because the ball players who are not a "prospect" will never be recognized. .467 is .467 no matter who you are.

He is not a prospect anymore because he spent time in the majors. Hessman is not that bad of a hitter though. He cannot produce in the majors, but hey he isn't dreadful.
