I thought the same thing, but when I got my 1995 Topps card, I knew it was not the case, ha ha.

Nothing to do with the code. At the beggining, they were coming out in waves of the same year/era all at once,
but I believe Topps redid their coding to fix this.

At first there were strings of 1950s cards that people would wait for and jump on. I reedemed one when the last 10 cards were all 90s and 80s, and I got a 1953. It's pretty random.
