Was cleaning out some papers and upon a list I put together a few years ago.
I rarely, rarely buy big money prospect cards (I prefer lots and refs) but these are players I spent "nice" money on at some point.
I also put a small note next to the name because eventhough he might have become a bust, I still could have made money off him.

The only other time I posted this list was on BMB I believe and I havent added to it in since 2008. Some pretty funny names now. Its a long read but will bring back many painfull (and great) memories to many here.

Hughes: sold during his breakout
Howard: BIG MONEY
Lambo: A CASE of Oreos dont stand a chance with him, Lincy and Phelps in the same room.
Toe F YOU Nash: First time I ever spent $15 on a prospect card.
Justin Huber: Lost here yet Beckett still lists him.
McCutchen: Did well althought I didnt have many autos.
Hermida: still waiting.....and waiting although all autos are gone.
Jason Hirsch: Hey, he's a Yankee now at least.....got a lot of his autos.
Scott "another 2000 bust" Thorman: Anyone need a million base rookies (although I made out on his auto)

Mauer: big money after he broke out
Brad Eldred: dont ask
Lastings: Still have plenty of non autos but made out large with his autos

Chris Shelton: That month window made me lots of money.
David Murphy: Passable player no one knows

Gallardo: bingo
B. Sardinha: Futrue Yankee....not.
Golson: See Jason Hirsch
Carmona: He was hot for 26 days and thank goodness I sold then.
Hawksworth: yuck
Lambert ::facepalm:: worthy
Mathiewson: TJ surgery later, lost.
Moses: never made it.
Ryan Harey: a Cubs first round bust, but made some money on him.

I don't know what the hand clapping emote is, but I'd put that here if I could!

To the OP - I enjoyed the read, thanks for posting (even the little cringe when I saw Cahill's name)

Great post. Just now reading it. I was invested in a lot of those players also. Pretty much same results. I'm still sitting on quite a few Erik Cordier and Chris Young cards.

There is a lot of players on that list that people will be able to make money on again. I love when players re-break out.

Memories, memories.

I remember jumping at the bit to get in on some of these guys (when I was younger and dumber and knew a lot less about prospecting then I do now).

As an Astros fan, some of those names just hurt though :(

lol.. I made a killing on Chris Shelton. Bought before the hype and dumped at the peak. One of my best investments ever.

Tell me about it.

I was at a show buying (slept at hotel) and on that Sunday the season began, I picked up a 2004 Fleer "something" auto numbered to like 50 for two bucks because I had read he could be a solid player (I had a few other auto bought previous to his break out as well).

Anyway, that day he started on his HR tear and a week later I sold it high enough to pay for that hotel room (around $100).
