Purdy!

I'm wondering where the base Bowman Strasburg 9.5's will settle in a few weeks. I'm debating taking advantage of the BGS June special for $12 per card, but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk if the prices fall to $30 per 9.5. Then again, I'd like to send them in the FCB Group sub, but by the time they get back, the Strasburg base Bowman train may be forgotten.

My guess is they settle at $35.

I sent off 26 cards to be graded today. Majority is 2010 bowman!

I hope more keep getting listed. Seen some real nice grades posted here, but people must be holding for now on some.

For sure, lots of 10s.

It seems that the main issue on these is the centering, if you can get that right, you are good.

not that ive looked, but im willing to bet that 9's are mega-scarce

With the premiums, I've thought about buying a couple parallels of those guys at whatever price they go for and try to answer that myself.

Anybody here think BGS 9's can pull premiums? Harper blue 9.5's are cracking $600. Harper Refractor 9.5's are going for $250. You would think a 9 would fetch above a raw.

I'm not sure about 9s. When a player gets super hot, not only do their cards usually go up but so does the premium that a gem receives. I think that, along with the limited population of gems thus far accounts for what is happening here.

Plus lots of these cards are way o/c, nicely centered copies look so much better.

I just listed a strasburg and harper ref...and some others tonight...hoping they will pull some nice coin

Surface is as much of a problem as the centering. The 2 of those combined are killing these things.

Surface is as much of a problem as the centering. The 2 of those combined are killing these things.

That's a good point, I've noticed a lot of roller marks on these cards - that being said, those two factors combined must not be too bad, lots of 10s already in the pop reports.

First let me say that Stras is a tough pull in any format (be it base, Chrome, auto, parallel etc...) from 2010 Bowman, I think he may even be short printed, or deliberately seeded in such a way to drive sales. That said, I think those Top 100 cards are underrated and undervalued, particularly his. I have opened up many many packs of 2010 Bowman both hobby and retail from different sources at different times in different packaging (i.e. regular hobby packs, jumbos, retail packs, blasters) and in that time, I have come across (count em...) TWO Strasburg cards, a base and a Chrome. Not a single Top 100 card of his graces my collection, though I do have Heyward's Top 100 card and it gets a little more respect from me now that I have seen just how tough a pull it actually is; by way of comparison, I have pulled Heyward's base RC four times...

The inserts (like expectations and top 100) are always harder to pull, that's no surprise. It is also no surprise though that they sell for far less than the base card. This is the way its been forever really, people like the standard rookie card and they like chrome better (in spite of the fact that there are only about 25% more base cards printed chrome sell for more than 2x the price).

Depending on how you look at it though, the base and the Chrome cards are inserts too just like the Top 100 card is an insert; that being the case I just think his Top 100 card is an undervalued and overlooked Stras card at this time and it's got a unique non-redundant picture, not what people are getting used to seeing and it's from his true Rookie year, so I'm gonna grab one on Ebay...

What do you all think of the Gem pricing of Strasbburg's bowman auto's?

Will they stay around $1K?
