Seeing as how next year's pool will be much wealthier in talent.

Someone asked this in the KLaw chat yesterday, and it kind of makes sense. With everything swirling around with the divorce and such, it makes more sense to punt this pick (even if the draft wasn't as deep as next year's appears to be)

Absolutely. His asking price is $5 million and with the finiancial problems thew Dodgers management is having this year, They definately did.

This is 100% slam dunk. Football rules for this kid, talk about leverage.

He's actually a better pitcher than he is a QB, which is hard to fathom considering he could be the LSU starter in two years.

I hope the Dodgers sign him. Good system for developing arms and he would be one of the 1st round picks that weren't head scratchers.

I have nothing to add to this thread other than I hate Les Miles and if I was that kid I would look for any reason not to go to LSU.

SO who will the O's draft next year at the #1 spot? :D

Anthony Rendon will improve your system quite a bit, from all accounts.

Is Rendon at all comparable to Longoria? From what I've read, the 2011 draft has the potential to be epic but without a massive star a la Strasburg/Harper (which is a given). KLaw said that where this year's draft fell off a cliff at #3, next year may be at #12.

Anyone have a link/opinion on the top 10-20 guys based on where they stand now for next years draft? Always fun to look at the first opinion then look back a year later.

So if they didn't intend to sign him or anyone this year, why not trade it for another pick next year? I'm sure someone wouldn't have minded trading for another draft pick.

You can't trade picks in MLB draft. There are compensation picks given depending on the circumstance of a trade/lack of signing.
