i was going through all the cards i have in there and now i see one has a small 2 on it. i clicked it and it said i have 2 of these. I was like ... what? dupes? Really?

Yep doubles It says in my account that I have only 1 of each I got, but I know you can get more then 1 since it shows
you a QTY there. maybe they are a variation of the card. Not sure though.

Yeah, I'm the proud owner of not one, but two Randy Velerde 1997 Topps, or some crap.. They do issue duplicates.
