After collection for more then 30 years I have come to realize that the hobby has (in my mind) gone in the wrong direction,20 years ago you could buy a wax box for under $40.00. today it 's between 70 and 100,who wants to spend 70 bucks on a box of topps and get a tommy nobody jersey,or a bobby hasbeen auto, thats why I have decided to give up collecting and pass the stuff onto my 8 year old son whos eyes gleem when he puts the cards on the floor and looks at them for hours upun hours these are a few scans of what i'm passing along to the little one.

you know

your son only gleams at the cards because you deem them important

if you don't participate with him, then the cards are meaningless

it's time with you he wants, not the cards

Your son has a pretty sick collection for an 8 yr old!

You will never be out of the hobby now that your son is in it.

Thats what i was thinking. As an 8 year old you strive to be like your dad, he just wants to do the same thing as you, and in this case its cards(nice ones at that  )

On top of all of this, which I agree with 100%, this hobby can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. There is still room for guys who do it for simpler reasons...

Buy boxes of older wax (90's is a great decade for off the wall inserts and technology) and bust them together.

This sounds like a new FCB/baseball card commercial ...

The better question is, how the heck do you get scans to merge like that?

Yes, wax was maybe half the price then...and gas was 1/3 of what it is now...and bread was 1/3 of what it is now...etc., but I can see your point of view.

Nice to see you pass it on to your son. I agree that he probably is interested in them mainly because you are. If you don't show a little interest, his enjoyment will probably fade.

+1

That's all I ever wanted, not just from my dad but someone... in my life I have only had 1 friend that truely was interested in cards and his intrests changed over the years.

I hate to say it but your son is going to throw those right up on ebay when he gets older if there is no sentimental value involved. I don't have a lot of that in my cards, unless my parents buy me some cards out of the blue.

Keep doing it for him, you can bust on a budget and still make out with nice things.

I asked this once before, but forgot to write down how too.

need to post with a scan from my photobucket help.

These always come in handy...
What you will want to do is this:
1) Open up an account here: www.photobucket.com
2) Search for the pictures on your computer by clicking "Browse" on your photobucket "homepage" (the page that comes up when you log in) once you have your photobucket account.
3) Find the pictures (tip: it may be easier if you save them all in one place under a name that is easy to)
4) Click on the file name, and hit "open"
5) Once you have all of the pictures you want in the little white spaces, then click "Upload"
6) Then, look at your albums (the place where the pictures are in photobucket). If you click on a picture, there are three white bars with links in them to the bottom right of the picture. Click on the third one that says "IMG Code". It will copy automatically.
7) Then, simply paste it into the Forum where you would type a message, and they'll show up.

Hope this helped, and if not, just let me know.
Thanks,
Jake (medindians25 )

(LOL HAD TOO)

Am i the only one asking themselves how the 8 year old is going to afford $70-100 boxes of wax??? that's a hell of an allowance dad :) :)

I kid, I love that my kids have collections of their own that I have helped them with. It's a great thing to share. You are a GREAT dad for passing them down.
