His prices are still dirt cheap even though he has more RBIs than Kubel, Mauer and Moreanu (or there abouts) batting 4 positions deeper in the order and not starting 15 games in the first half of the season.

25 doubles, 10 HRs and 58 RBIs in 279 at bats is a remarkable accomplishment and ranks him among the most productive in the AL. Not to mention flirting with .300 and a .340 OBP.

He has almost surpassed all of his totals from last year and has done it in 110 less at bats. They tried his bat in the 3 hole last week and he had a double and single in that game.

He can realistically have 40-50 doubles and 20-25 HRs and 110+ RBIs. He has 50 career HRs and is still only 24.

His last bowman chrome auto refractor sold for 35.

Now with Moreanu on the DL they will need to move Young up a few spots to add some production and keep the line moving. The Twins didn't do themselves any favors in letting Cliff Lee slip through their fingers, they have a great chance to win the division with just one more quality arm.

With all that said he last bowman chrome auto refractor sold for 35 ::facepalm::

I remember last year when he wasn't doing much of anything his cards were selling much higher, there hasn't been a spike in his cards all season, actually they were selling quite a bit HIGHER before the season started......which begs the question was he suppose to have 30 HRs at the all-star break and is a bust?

I shook his hand and talked to him for a minute at Twins Fest this past January. Last year was hard on him, as his mom was ill in April and died in May. That affected him more than people realized. I wished him luck this year and told him I was behind him 110%. He seemed very sincere in his thanking me for the support.

I wish nothing but good for him. I may be the only one, but I want to see nothing but good things happen to him (and, I have nothing really of his).

I second that. I didn't get the chance to see him at TwinsFest but overall I think he had too much pressure on him with high expectations not only when the Twins traded for him, but when he first came into the league. With the hype on him dying down I feel like he can finally concentrate on playing and he really has been doing that. His sketchy behavior at the beginning of his career has seemed to all but disappear and I hope nothing but the best for him as well. Hopefully with Morneau being out he will finally get noticed as one of the few bright spots for the Twins this year.

Delmon is a great player. I just about pooped myself when they brought him over, and I still stick with the descion.

What I don't think people realize is he is still a young player, he needs time to really settle into a great player. He looks older than he actually is.

I have a couple RCs and I want to hold onto them, not for value's sake, but because he is a good player. I might try and pick an auto or 2 up of him just to hold onto.

He's a thug! Remember how he threw that bat?!?! It was a crime against humanity!

Plus he got upset at the Rays for deliberately holding him in the minors to decrease his service time. Getting mad at management is un-American! He's a socialist!

He's a good risk as far as future potential goes, but people don't seem to like him that much and card purchases aren't a meritocracy... we buy the guys we like, not necessarily the best players. Plus, people are usually wowed by skills, not efficiency. He'll need a power spike to really revamp interest.

I don't think you can fairly call him a "thug". Everybody does things they regret when they were younger, and I'm sure Delmon feels that way too. He has since had no type of problem and nothing that I can think of since joining the Twins. So to call him a "thug" on that isn't a fair label.

I still think he can be the next Albert Belle, Belle didn't get going until his age 24 season.

If Delmon had the season he's having now when he came up with the Rays, then he would be a hobby stud. Since it's taken a few years to find his groove, well, the hobby stuff has to catch up to him. This is the kind of hitter people expected right away, and hitters don't always develop like we'd like them to. I hope he stays a Twin for a long time. There are still Delmon haters in Twins Territory, but as we've all heard before, haters gotta hate.

I think he is developing into a decent player but more likely down the Jermaine Dye path, where he is going to have at least a couple of pretty good years, but people won't really care as much [especially if he is still playing for the Twins with Mauer / Morneau].

I think Jermaine Dye is a good comparison for Young.

As long as someone is still in the bigs they have a chance to heat up again in the hobby. All its takes is a hot streak, 3-4HR game, hit streak, playoff honors, trade, etc.

+1, look at Dye's early numbers

He is turning into more than just a decent player. Delmon doesn't take many walks, but he hardly strikes out. He is really becoming a great hitter. His numbers with RISP this season have been unbelievable. The Twins are probably 8 games back this year if not for Delmon caring the team on his back.

Unless he develops 30+ HR power, I seem him just being an average/slightly above average player. His defense is suspect and while he has cut down on his K's, he still hates to take a walk. He certainly has improved this year, but I don't think he will ever realize the potential that was seen in him when he first came up.

Dude, he was being sarcastic.

He used the word meritocracy.

Expect wittiness.

Dude, he is still just 24 years old. Look at his doubles total right now, I know at least 3 off hand where they almost cleared the fence. He is on pace to hit about 20 HR's this season. I could def see him becoming a 30+ HR hitter in time, especially if you see the guy during batting practice.

Dude what? I said he would be considered an average to slightly above average player. I didn't call him a scrub, I just don't predict stardom for him. 10th out of 25 qualifying left fielders in OPS. 11th in ISO power. 24th out of 25 in walk percentage. 24th out of 25 in swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. 16th in fielding WAR(Jason Bay has been a better LF). 12th out of 25 in WAR. That makes him average to slightly above average in what has been a career year for him. Will he get better? A little bit probably. But if won't take a walk, the good pitches to drive over the fence won't come so often.
