Figured it was about that time to start looking at next year (at least for me, this is generally when I do my studying for Fall/Winter products), but I am having a hard time putting a list together. Would love to hear some suggestions. In terms of players, I think these are the obvious contenders:

Mike Trout
Desmond Jennings
Jesus Montero
Julio Teheran
Jeremy Hellickson
Dustin Ackley
Martin Perez
Aaron Hicks
Bryce Harper
Jameson Taillon
Zach Britton
Michael Pineda
Mike Moustakas
Eric Hosmer
Aroldis Chapman
Simon Castro
Mike Montgomery
Lonnie Chisenhall
Freddie Freeman
Tyler Matzek
Kyle Gibson
Kyle Drabek
Casey Kelly
John Lamb
Mike Minor
Jonathan Singelton

My top 5 would probably be:
1.) Desmond Jennings- Future All-Star lead-off hitter
2.) Mike Trout- Massive debut, skies the limit
3.) Jesus Montero- Huge bat, waiting for space.
4.) Julio Teheran-Best pitching prospect in the minors.
5.) Bryce Harper- Should either be #1, or out of the top 10. Tough to tell where he will rank.

Help appreciate!

BTW, I am assuming that both Dom Brown and Logan Morrison both become ineligible. Dom would be in the top 5 for sure, if eligible.

Sorry, but there is absolutely no way Grichuk cracks the top 10 next year.

I'd bet my house/life on it.

and youre basing this opinion on what?

Um. Let's see.

The fact that there's at least 50 other deserving players over him.

The fact that even before his injury, he was doing terribly.

And what are you basing your opinion of him making it on?

Terribly?
In 29 games, he had 25 hits, scored 22 runs, 8 Doubles, a Triple, 4HR, 21 RBI

Yeah, thats awful.

-He hit .229.
-He had a 30-6 K/BB ratio. I would say 30 K's in 109 AB's is terrible. Research shows that players who K at ridiculous paces in the lower levels rarely pan out.
-He had a .280 OBP.

Yeah. That IS awful.

I'm off the short-lived Singleton train and there isn't a chance in my eyes that he cracks top 25 let alone top 10.

He had an amazing May, slowed in June, slow July.

Is he a valid prospect? Of course...just not in the Top 10 category.

I guess its a good thing he didn't have any substantial cards to chase then...would have made for some very high prices.

The Pro Debut Cuts broke $100 so that is "substantial" in my eyes. "Substantial" enough for me to have moved mine, plus expecting a Bowman Chrome autograph or similar.

If he had a Bowman Chrome autograph while he was raking .400+ in May...they would have been crazy I think.

Its not like he's playing poorly after years of AAA ball. He's doing just fine. Plenty of guys have been huge surprises. Grichuk will be another.

You mean like Ryan Garko?

You've yet to answer my question, by the way. How has Grichuk's performance warranted top 10 recognition?

I think it would be more accurate if someone said Grichuk wouldn't crack the top 100 than if someone said he would crack the top 10. He's closer to not even showing up on the list as most of the BA staffers aren't big on him.

Thank you.

Garko over here is so blinded by stubbornness that he can't seem to realize this.

As someone with a few Grichuk cards, I think he'll will end up being a decent prospect before it's all said and done, but he was pretty unimpressive at the beginning of this year. It's hard to argue that.

He's still young and has great raw power, but he's just not there yet. Missing time with injury always hurts too. So while I think it's possible he'll be at least a top 100 guy in a year or two, there's really no way he makes any sort of list at this point.

Grichuk isn't even a top 100 prospect, and to me it's not even that close. The guy isn't even a top 10 prospect from the Midwest League this year, possibly not even on the top 20 MWL prospects that Baseball America will do at years end.
