I have not been on here much lately so i do not know how much this has been discussed but Cliff Lee has done some incredible things.

9-4 W-L 2.40 ERA .892 WHIP

The guy has 6 complete games and 7 walks!!!!!!

His strikeout to walk ratio is 16.29-1
AND his BB/9 innings is .5

I have never seen a pitcher with stat columns like these!!! Does anyone know what the records are for the 3 walk categories I mentioned I assume he is on pace to break them all.

Just a quick glance, but Greg Maddux's 1997 season included 20 BB's, 6 of which were intentional, and 177 K's in 232.2 Innings Pitched.

Thank you for that info. I just took an in-depth look at his stats on baseballreference.com and Lee is currently ahead of him in all 3 categories ( BB/K, BB/9 innings, and total BBs) but there is still a 1/3 of a season left so who knows. I am rooting for Lee though ;) .

As to your questions, I don't know what the third thing is you are talking about, but here are two:

The record for K/BB ratio for pitchers who qualify for the ERA title (1 IP per games played by team) is 11.0 by Bret Saberhagen in 1994 (143 Ks to 13 BB). Here are the top 10: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play- ... reit/BXaha

The record for BB/9IP is 0.43 (just slightly better than Lee's current 0.45) by Carlos Silva in 2005. He only walked 9 batters the entire year. Here is the list of the top 10: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play- ... reit/WhAN7

Interesting info there. Something else occured to me. Since Lee has been with the Rangers he has pitched 9 innings 3 times but only 1 has been a "complete game" officially. His innings per start ratio(I did the math) is approx. 8.2 which is ridiculous. I divided his 139 innings by his 17 games started to find that. I wonder when the last time a pitcher had that kind of ratio. Obviously pitchers used to pitch complete games most times a while ago but it would be a telling stat if the last time that occured was not during the 1990s or 2000s.

if he somehow gets even better, he might be getting some MVP votes.

He has WAY the best ERA in the american league, so i think he should definately get the cy young award at least I don't care about wins...He was with the mariners 2/3 of the season  he could've been with the phillies. .

facing pitchers, what % lower era do you think he would of had? (or maybe its more complex than that due to the Ms great pitching park and the 2 solid UZR outfielders)

Can we get back to Carlos Silva walking 9 guys and still having a 1.2 WHIP.

Seriously, if Lee would've been traded across leagues, I would've cried. Can you imagine leaving those numbers behind? Ouch.

Cliff Lee is having an ungodly season. Can you imagine if he had a W-L like Ubaldo right now? People would be talking about the greatest pitching season in 50 years....and there have been some magical ones (RJ, Pedro, Guidry, Doc come to mind quickly)

Should we automatically chalk him up as a Yankee next season? I'm already depressed. But at least he'll be out of the A.L. West.

Lee had one of his own, going 22-3 back in 2008. He was 22-2 with 2 starts left, so he very easily could have been 24-2. In those two games, his ERA rose from 2.36 to 2.54, but still led the league in ERA.

Greg Maddux was the last player to average over 8 IP per start, in 1994. He had 25 starts and 202 IP. Here are all the pitchers to do this since 1980: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play- ... reit/C7reA
