Joel Sherman says done deal- Prospects unknown, but it is supposedly a pure salary dump deal. Berkman has already accepted.

This same thing was said about Lee becoming a Yankee.
Wont believe it till Its a Done deal.

I also heard reports of Boston going after him as well.

The Sox were possibly after him as well, and I believe some names in the mix for a trade for him were Dan Hudson and Brent Morel.

Why the hell does New York need Lance Berkman especially at full price? Isn't this team 30 games over .500?

As a Yankees fan, I hate this move. Berkman serves no purpose. They should have made a deal for Lilly.

According to mlbtraderumors.com, no big name prospects, and Berkman is requiring that the team *not* pick up his 2011 option. He has approved going to the Yankees, and the Steinbrenners have OK'd taking on his salary.

Berkman DHing allows Posada to get some time to rest and recover, and will give the major bats a few days off, too.

Oddly, his #17 isn't taken right now, either.

Berkman is a .194 hitter on the road..

He's also hitting MUCH better lefty than righty this year. If/when everyone's healthy, I'm assuming he'll platoon at DH with Thames.

Marcus Thames, LOL. If he ever takes AB's away from Lance Berkman, something is wrong. I watched him fail wayyyyyy to much in Detroit. Guy will run into one here and there, but he's not a big league ball player IMO.

Berkman is built for that right field line at Yankee Stadium.

For the Astros, if you move Oswalt and aren't planning on resigning Berkman...might as well move him now when the public relations storm is in full force. I think Houston fans will embrace Wallace very quickly once he is up.

(probably nothing, like AZ, but you never know)
