2009-10 The Cup 10/1/10 UPDATED W/ MORE PICS 9/20

Upper Deck announced today through a series of "tweets" through their Twitter account that 2009-10 The Cup will be released on October 1st. they stated that the reason for the continued delays was due to waiting on players to return their autographs. UD wanted to avoid including redemptions for autographs.

Upper Deck said:
Exciting news, we will begin packing out 2009-10 NHL The Cup next week. Look for updates Thursday-Sunday here and on facebook!

Upper Deck said:
The official release date for 2009-10 NHL The Cup is now 10/1/10. Look for updates from the pack out next week here & on facebook.

What the rules for it to be considered an 09/10 release? As long as it is released before the 10/11 season starts?

I believe that must be what it is, although that is very weird considering that a couple 2010/11 sets have been on the market a couple weeks now. Last years came out pretty late as well, but i believe it was still in August sometime. Better late than never i guess.

The design is a little bland for Cup. If the patch piece is right, I still buy though.

A Doughty / Kopitar signature dual patch card and serial-numbered to 35 to boot. That's going on my wantlist right now.

Okay why didnt we see any USA cards in the product. I would love a Kessler or Parise auto in their USA uni'. IN fact why didnt they have a set like be a player except they were in international jerseys. I think that would be a sweet product, but wait that would make to much sense for Upper Deck to make something worth a damn

In The game made an amazing product like this a few years ago. It was called International Ice and all the players and the game used swatches where from the players home country.

Holy Niemi quad patch Batman!

But definitely the missed the ball on doing a USA Olympic set a la the Team Canada. Sure Canada won the gold, but the US team outplayed everyone's expectations and provided for an amazing Olympics. Oh...and it's the friggin US.

Stuff looks sweet

UD likes to show the wheat, you know there's a lot of chaff.
If business continues to be good I see a six pack in my future.

I'm hoping UD wants to knock this out of the park after losing the other lic.s & all that;s been going on with them lately.

I agree some Team USA cards would be a nice addition.

Eric there is a Duchene auto patch in the cards from UD's Facebook page.

Kinda surprised to see that Tyler Myers RC is out of /249. Any guesses on who the RC /99's are gonna be? Id imagine Tavares and Duchene are /99 give mes, who else do you think will be a /99?
