I appreciate all of you that made it fun for me. It was great while it lasted. The dishonesty of some people in the sports card world is unfathomable sometimes. I sell a card on ebay when a guy is hot, send the card promptly, the guy charges back (and i can't prove shipment because their is no tracking across the US border), he gets his money back, he leaves a negative, and then I see him sell the exact same card a week and a half later. This is just the latest example. I would think that I have lost $1000-1200 in refunds sent due to card's being lost in the mail/people praying on the lack of international tracking. I cannot continue to record such loses, and thus must quit. Again, thanks to those of you who made it fun.

I live in Canada, and when I ship to US buyers, DC/shipment is not a possibility. The best I can do is Express, which costs $15, and requires a signature. He didn't pay for that choice of shipping, so I sent it regularly.

Send your cards to Boomo and have him sell them for you.

I'm thinking of doing it myself. BECAUSE I live in the US. You see... it makes me lazy. :)

Don't quit the hobby, just quit selling international on ebay.

Sure, you'll be stuck with just hockey cards, but hey, not a big sacrifice, right?

Oh yeah, and I wanted to say... I love reading your posts! So even if you do quit collecting, which I did (well, 97%, I'm still a little addicted to the cardboard crack, like when it's a Rickey #24/xx  )... these are good message boards to hang out on. This community in particular... FCB has got to be the best message board on earth.

And that is just the tip of the ice berg. I have had even members here chargeback and keep cards, but I am not one to name names. This has just left a really bad taste in my mouth, and a few less bills in my bank account.

that's why I don't sell on ebay, I let someone else do the dirty work.

I'm in the same city as you are and I've shipped hundreds of cards to the US. It's a risk, so I usually bite the bullet and ship all the higher end stuff via Registered Mail, regardless of what form of shipping they paid for. I end up losing 10-15% of the sale in fees, but at the same time, I know I would not get the same sales if I only shipped within Canada.

Had you had issues with cards getting lost or returned? I would say 25% of my packages are either delayed or returned. It's amazingly consistent and stupid.

Nope, never had anything go missing, actually the only time I can remember a high end card getting "lost" was when I shipped it Expresspost to Nova Scotia. When I was building my Bowman USA Gold Ref /50 set, I bought upwards of 75+ cards from the US, and all of them made it here safely. I've had a few US buyers email me about not getting the card after a week, so I gently tell them that it usually takes 7-10 business days and they understand.

You live in Edmonton area? May I ask what PO you use? If you are seriously having that much success, I might as well copy exactly what you are doing.

I hate scammers. To rip people off for some cardboard is just very very sad. I've thought of ways to try and get back at them if it happened to me, but I know I'll have to answer questions on a polygraph and have a security clearance that I don't want to lose.

If someone did that, do what someone else up above said, buy it back from him. When you get the package, record yourself opening the envelope of course showing the address and all that jazz. However, before you do so, cut a slit in the bottom/back of the envelope, enough to let the top loader out and take out the card, then put the top loader back in and turn on the recorder. When showing the envelope, have your hand/fingers covering the slit. Open the envelope normally and "Oh my god, there is no card in there! I've been robbed!". And to the angst of the guy who ripped you off in the first place, you have video recorded "proof" that he only sent an empty top loader and must give you a refund. I'd assume you'd be out a couple of bucks still but at least you have some of your cash back along with the card.

Name names or it didn't happen.

Then I will delete that post where I mentioned it on the boards. I'm not a snitch, and it wouldn't do any good. The past is the past.

There's a difference between snitching and calling someone out for flat out stealing from you.

And as a fairly active buyer/seller from people on these boards, I don't want to deal with people who are willing to steal from other members.

By the way, sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I've used a bunch of different ones, the primary one being in West Edmonton mall. I would drive all the way out there to do my shipping even though I'm closer to Sherwood Park because the guy was quick, super nice, and nothing ever got lost or returned. It's located in the little convenience store on the second level by the Casino. I've used the Sherwood Park Depot by Superstore as well, but they take go by the book and measure/weigh every package, so I only go there when I have time to kill. I mark them as "photos" as well since technically they are picture cards.
