Hi guys!

As some of you know my name is Benjamin and I have been a huge Randy Moss fan since 1998 his rookie season and have literally only followed him and the teams he's been on since day one! I am 25 years old and was only 12 when Moss came into the league! Obviously my all time dream was to meet him in person and get to talk with him even if just for a few minutes. Well I am posting this thread just to share what I will always treasure as my favorite Moss item, while at the same time my all time favorite Moss memory...

Ok I live in northern California and even though I loved seeing Randy play in Minnesota, i'd be lying if I said I wasn't thrilled to see him get traded to Oakland so i'd finally get a chance to see him play in person! So anyways about 3 days after the trade was announced there was an announcement on our local radio station that said Randy Moss himself would be making a personal appearance to meet & greet the Oakland fans along with signing autographs and taking pictures!!! I knew I had to be there for that no matter what and bought a ticket within minutes of the announcment!!! So the day came finally in September of 2005 just a few days before the Raiders second game of the season and first HOME game of the year! The Raiders had just returned from New England after having lost their opening night game. Moss however was brilliant in that game and had 5 rec, 130 yards, and a TD against the defending SB champs! So obviously the atmosphere was great up to this point!!!! anyways let me share my PERSONALIZED AUTOGRAPH THAT I GOT FROM RANDY MOSS HIMSELF!

I met him and was able to tell him in person how huge a fan had always been and told him that even though the media portrays him as this "bad guy" that his true fans will always have his back. He thanked me, shook my hand, and asked for my name! I said my name was Benjamin and then he signed my picture (looking back I wish I didn't get a Raider picture signed LOL)
HERE ARE SOME CLOSE UP PICTURES

Global Authentication was on site and offered free authentication so I got it..

HERE IS RANDY MOSS HIMSELF SIGNING MY PICTURE.IMG_0040.jpg I took the picture myself and didn't have anybody with me to hold the camera so I could get a pic with him. Guess I was to nervous to even think to ask one of the security guards to hold the camera. My friends that I went with were getting autographs from other Raiders that were in attendance including Jerry Porter! Moss was very nice to me and even after the autograph I told him "thanks so much Randy, take care, and good luck on the season!"... and he responded this word4word "thanks alot Benjamin it means alot to meet a real fan man, you take care too and see you at the game"... It was the best sports related day of my life!
And just to show how big this day was to me... here I was at only 20 years old after having got to the meet&greet a whole 5 hours early before everyone else just so I could get the best seat in the house to see Moss arrive and to buy my photo to get autographed!!!

Thanks for allowing me to share my experience and I know it may not be enough to change anyones mind.. but contrary to what people say and the media report.. randy moss is a very nice guy and really cares about his TRUE fans. he looked me in the eye when talking like a genuine human being and didn't treat me like many athletes treat the fans. he treated me and everyone else there with total class and I will always treasure that day! When this had taken place I had already put together an unbelievable Moss collection that had to be seen to believe but in 2007 I was forced to sell because my parents fell on hard financial times. I'm back to the hobby now though and plan to put another great collection together of my alltime childhood hero!!! and so far I only have three cards.. but I think their good ones

and then my Holy Grail!!!!!!! A card that will always be the centerpiece of my Moss collection no matter how big it gets or what rarer items I ever add....

TAKE CARE EVERYBODY!
Sorry Mods for making a different Moss thread.. I kinda didn't want to post this in the previous one because the other seemed to have gotten out of hand. It's friday fella's!!!

Thanks for sharing the story. Sorry to hear that you had to sell the collection, good luck putting it back together. Did you have to sell the picture as well?

No I would never sell that. It's the only actual autograph I got in person! Plus it would take someone else named Benjamin to buy it lol. I should have brought an item of my choice because there were fans getting unique things like Marshall Helmets signed and what not. Moss is awesome and i'm happy I got to meet him a couple times. Rare that a collector gets to do that!

I met Peyton Manning when I was 20. It was April, 1999. I totally freaked out.

really? that's awesome! where did you meet him? I hear he's really nice in person too.
check this video out of Peyton meeting a little fan.. really classy guy!

I was attending college and it just so happened that Peyton and Archie were booked to speak at an event. On the day of the event I heard that someone would be setting up memorabilia. I was supposed to drive home to pick up my girlfriend (now my wife) but I was wanting to check out the memorabilia. I waited and waited in the building the event was being held. Suddenly a police escort pulls up and in walks Peyton Manning. There was a small handful of people in the room and of course I had nothing to write with. Someone representing Peyton said "Now folks please note that Peyton will not be able to sign anything". It was so strange in that Peyton was my favorite, we were in Tennessee, and nobody was talking to him. I walked up to him and we chatted for several minutes. We even discussed their upcoming season opener even though it was April. I told him that I was a big fan and hated that he could not sign something. He asked who told me that and I ratted out the guy. He took my ticket for the event, asked for something to write with and signed the ticket. It was amazing. A few minutes later Archie signed the ticket as well.

Peyton was very greacious in person. The highlight of the night was before Peyton's speech. He was standing in the back of the auditorium behind the back row of seats. All of a sudden a small child was very upset and started crying. A couple of minutes went by and Peyton actually walked up to the parents and asked if he could help. He spent the time before his speech playing with this kid. It was something only a few people knew about as it happened. Needless to say I was impressed.

That's awesome RITM I wouldn't have expected anything less from Peyton Manning. It made me happy to see that NFL Network's 100 Greatest NFL Player list already had him in the top ten! Definately a once in a generation type player and we really do take him for granted. I always wished that Moss would somehow have made it to Indy because Manning & Moss together even now at their ages would be unstoppable! I was pretty pissed when the Saints beat the Colts in the SB last season because i'm so sick of hearing the bashing on Peyton because he "only has one ring"... ridiculous thing to say! great story! do you still have the ticket?

wow you guys ragging on the OP are a bunch of turds. Good story. Peyton Manning came and read to my elementary school when he was a freshman at UT, it was really cool. The sucky part is they handed out printed autographs and wouldn't let us ask him to sign anything...LAME!!!

Nice cards. Nice story. Super curious though, why is the pic he is signing different from the one you are holding up? Different size and different sig.

Oh yeah. Well the picture I took of me holding the 16x20 was taken when I first got there. I was going to get the 16x20 but before I did they told me that if I wanted to get it signed that since it's a bigger photo it would cost double the price of getting an 8x10 signed!!! It kind of pissed me off at first but then I remembered that I wasn't really there for an autograph anyways (at that time I had put together a PC that included over 45 autographs) so I just settled on an 8x10 instead. I would have just not got anything signed if I had my choice and instead just get a picture with him and tell him my story of how long I'd been a fan... But they literally make you pay to get something signed and werent offering photo opps only. And just to let you know there is no signature on the 16x20 if you look closely. Thanks for the comment!
