A baseball that I got signed sometime in the 80s features a nice Hank Aaron signature on the sweet spot, a blue sharpie Lou Brock signature on one side panel and Billy Williams on the other. The ball has discolored evenly, but is clearly not "white."

So the question is...do I cut the ball up and make a Hank Aaron custom sweet spot?

Comments, criticism and comedy gladly appreciated

IMO, the cuts created from balls look like crap. The leather gets wrinkled up

Unless you could figure out a way to stretch the leather out, glue it to the card, and have it hold. Then it'd look awesome

Make 3 Cuts. Those autos are not difficult to come by.

Cut it up your customs are great. I have seen the Ichiro cut from a ball and it is sweet.

I'm with George on this one. You make such incredible customs that I'd love to see what you'd come up with.

I agree, cut it up. If it were a single signed, no.

Why in the hell would you consider cutting up a ball with 3 HOF's??? You'll end up with three dirty signatures that will be hard to make cards out of. I agree you do great customs but I have never seen a baseball that doesn't come out wrinkled. Buy the signatures seperate if you want to make them.

LOVE your customs... I'd like to see what you could do with the Aaron!

The Aaron would look better on a card, the ink on the Brock ruins it. Make a seperate card for the Brock.

A single signed Aaron is actually more valuable.

I say cut it up, Mike. And send me the side panel with BW on it.

Make some new, crazy, "triangle" card that spins on an axis and can show what would be 3-way "Sweet Spot Cuts" in some type of sculpture.

Or don't.

I don't think you are capable of screwing this up, and all 3 are still widely availible for sigs; so i say "Do eet!"

I love multi-signed baseballs, I vote to keep the piece intact.

I know lots of people like multi-signed cards, its interesting to think the same folks might prefer single-signed baseballs.

No question, cut 'em. Those autos should not be wasting away sitting on that ball for another minute. They're dying to be included in your custom portfolio.

My personal reasons to cut it up:

1. The Brock being in sharpie kills it.
2. Side panel sigs look like crap, imo.

I didn't appreciate destroying the Hank Aaron patch card. I offered hofautos quite a bit more than he paid for it to not go through with it.

But this doesn't really bother me, and I wouldn't mind seeing the results. The sharpie auto does look pretty bad, and Aaron ball autos are not hard to find.

Cut them, but make the customs 180 pt or so to allow for an acid-free plastic insert on which the autos can be stretched.

Having a dome shaped piece of leather would look much better than the shriveled look of cuts major manufacturers have used.
