With the sheer abundance of serial numbered cards out there, most may not seem special any longer but I advise you all to double check the serial number.

Ive been going through my stacks and found a couple of "unique" ones including:
1. 2008 Spectrum Verlander 35/399 (jersey #)
2. 2001 Elite Erstad 001/975 (first one made)
3. 2003 Donruss Studio Griffey Jr. 89/100 (rookie year in majors)

I got hooked on unique numbers and listed the above on ebay because of a recent completed sale of a 2003 or 2002 Elite Bonds insert 01/275 (I think) which went for something like $170

Have any of you guys here sold many of these types of cards?

And while Im on the subject, does anyone have a scan of the most amazing serial number card ever? 1992 Donruss Elite Ripken auto 2131/5000? I know its been found because I saw a pic of it years ago.

They're real nice additions to a collection that garner a premium. I'm sure you've noticed the larger the print run or popular the set the greater the premium. I've noticed a number of sellers are calling the jersey # serial numbers 'unimatch' like [ebay:25thju1p]270678307214[/ebay:25thju1p].

May be hard to read but it is #30/499. Pretty cool considering the card talks about how...

Im a "numbers" guy.
Anytime I can get a 6 for Musial or 5 for Cuddy, I do it and I tend to put a premium on my bid.

I like the ones where the company screws up and the first number is larger than the second number. I still don't think I'd pay a premium for one though (or any other number for that matter).

In addition to being the white Al Roker, Dave Melton's jersey number was 57.

Bob Rush wore number 55 in addition to teaching your father's wood shop class.

I don't go crazy, but I will pay a bit more for a #13 of Vizquel. I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 of them. I doubt that I'll start adding #11 as well, now that he's switched. If so, it'll just be for the years he's worn it.

Picked this up on Ebay for $1. He didn't say it was 58/99 just that it was numbered of 99. It was raw and I sent it off to PSA for my PC.

I have a couple, but just by coincidence.

I do cringe when I see one listed (either 1/x or 11/x) for Zimm, because I know it'll probably cost me more than usual.

If 2 are listed, and one is like the above, I normally get the non-unique number one to save a few bucks.

That Bonds was #/73. While unique serial numbers do sell at a premium(mainly jersey numbers), I think that Bonds did so well due to the scarcity more than the number.

All I pretty much collect any more are Mauer cards #'ed 7/xx. I will pay a premium, but know the market enough & won't go to crazy.

I think I'm close to 50 now. My "best" is probably a 02 Topps Pristine Gold RC 7/50. I'll try to add some scans later.
