Based on the Mike Payne book "300 Great Baseball Cards of the 20th Century"

Is anyone else collecting this interesting set?

I decided to focus on 1960 through the end since I will probably never have a Mantle rookie or T206 Wagner.

There are 149 cards from 1960 on and I have 91 (61%) of them. There are some really great cards so I just wanted to see what others thought.

This sounds very interesting. It could be fun project to work on. Would you mind sharing the list? I would be interested in checking it out to see if it could be something I may be able to work on.

I wonder how he determined the card that would be on the list? I mean there are 3 or 4 Griffey Jr rookies but the 1987 Fleer Will Clark, which in 1987 was the biggest card in the hobby outside of the '86 Canseco Donruss Rookies card, isn't even on the list. I guess I'll have to read the book. Congrats on your progress and keep it up!

Great question on how he determined which cards would be listed. Below I have scanned the Introduction page of the book. You have to remember that the book was written pre-stereroid controversy so you see a lot of cards that may or may not make the cut today.

Although it can be said that regardless of stereroids ALL of the cards listed had a significant impact on the hobby at the time.

I collected Topps cards in the early 80's and many of the bigger "hyped" cards are not even on the list, yet he lists cards like the '66 Maris, '67 Ford, '69 Seaver
