Laird was no offense whatsoever, but he was about as good as it gets on defense, other than maybe the guy he'll be backing up. Valuable to an offense? Probably not. Valuable to a team? Extremely.

You are correct I made that comment without looking at his stats
Defense included he is basically Yadi replacing Yadi minus a few
percentage points here and there I like the signing

Yeah I really liked having him as a Tiger. He did well catching for Porcello when he was first coming up in 2009 as a 20 year old and was a great overall defensive catcher. Definitely a good signing for any team in need of a solid guy who will play great D.

I am actually kind of surprised Laird did not try to land a
job in Boston However am happy since I have a few
Salty autos I hope he does well

Offensive power? LOL!!!!!!!! He SUCKS. And this is coming from a Tigers fan. He can't hit, wasn't great defensively this year, and is probably the worst catcher I've seen.

Have fun with him! At least he's your back up though.
