Hockey - Team Orr's John Tavares was injured in a 6-1 win over Team Cherry in the 14th Canadian Hockey league top Prospects Game on Wednesday before a crowd of 5,510 at General motors Centre in Oshawa, Ont.
Tavares--widely expected to be the first player selected at the 2009 NHL entry draft -- fell awkwardly after being checked by Zack Kassian in the third period.
He left the game with an apparent arm injury and did not return.
Minutes earlier in the third period, defenceman Tyler Doherty continued his battle with Tavares, taking him hard into the boards and earning a boarding minor.
Tavares was not at the post-game award presentations.
